Is Dan Patrick Already Gone?

Listening to his show today (after reading he'll be going into syndication away from ESPN Radio elsewhere on this site), and Scott Van Pelt is sitting in for him.

However, he's not introducing himself as a guest host, and his show IDs are only saying "ESPN Radio." Second hour, no Olbermann.

This three-hour block does not seem to be branded as "The Dan Patrick Show."

Conspiracy theory time, people! Did ESPN find out he was going to become a competitor (instead of the host of The Price Is Right), and stage a pre-emptive strike and pull him from the air?
 
the only mentioned of DP i've heard is the video game promotion on their website and a commercial in his voice....also his usual producer (Phil the Showkiller) isn't there either, Amanda from the Heard is producing today.

My guess is he's gone.

I heard the video game ad, too, that might have been a paid spot they couldn't drop like the DP-voiced commercials. I think I heard the email address as "[email protected]," also.

So, was this an end run by DP that caught ESPN flat-footed?
 
Like many people, Dan probably has some vacation/comp days coming that he needs/can take before his 'official' departure. Dan will be back for a final week from Aug 13 thru 17 with special guest, interviews and a look back at his tenure at ESPN Radio. (Gee, I seem to sound like a press release) In the meantime, ESPN is having various hosts fill the timeslot.
 
Another topic on this page talks about Tony Bruno leaving SNR. It was also posted that Tony said on his show that he wasn't going anywhere. Well, when someone says that...they're usually going somewhere. Would Tony be a possible replacement for Dan Patrick? Personally, I think they need a bigger name in Dan's spot than Jason Smith. Will they pick someone from the TV end of ESPN who already has some notability?

Speaking of which, there's another candidate to replace Dan full time.
 
If it gets him off of YES and the yankee TV Broadcasts then it would be brilliant move for Yankee fans, I can listen to WFAN on the Computer or MLB Live XM 175 in the car. Or Mike and the Maddog on 1010 WQYK in Tampa at the 3 O clock hour!

Michael Kay has been beyond horrible so far. He lets his "New Yoik" accent slip out too much rather than use his "standard received" radio voice like he does on YES broadcasts.
 
This was supposed to be Dan's farewell week, but when I tuned in it was guest-hosts again. Anybody know if they're still going to do the last week of shows, or has Dan going to another radio network killed that idea?

i'm guessing that might be part of it, but he's still listed on the ESPN radio site
