Is Diversity Finally Coming to 'The Bachelor'?

“I’d be very surprised if The Bachelorette in the summer isn’t diverse,” the head of ABC Entertainment Group said. In 2016.

The Bachelor franchise, which also includes The Bachelorette, does not have a good track record when it comes to diversity. After 12 years of being on the air, many Reporters Who Cover Television wrote about The Bachelor and The Bachelorette having accomplished casting just one non-white person in their combined title roles – and that after facing a class-action lawsuit for racial discrimination. It’s all the more notable because ABC has gotten marks for minority casting elsewhere on its primetime schedule.
