From Roby Brock's Talk Business Blog, Grant Merril reported Thursday...
"Rumors are running rampant throughout central Arkansas that the left-leaning Air America Network will soon find an affiliate on the Little Rock radio airwaves. Air America’s most prominent on-air personality is comedian and political pundit Al Franken.
A call to the Illinois based Nova-M Radio confirms that they are in the process of coming to the capitol city, however the spokesperson would not confirm as to what frequency.
All speculation right now points to KDXE 1380 AM, the area’s ESPN affiliate. The station’s morning show anchored by Today’s THV sports personality Wess Moore was dismissed a few weeks back, and sources close to the station indicate changes are afoot.
Nova M, a company started by Air America founders Sheldon and Anita Drobny is apparently obtaining network affiliates by purchasing or leasing radio stations across the nation. According to a recent article from the Society of Professional Journalists, the couple hopes to control between twenty and twenty five stations in the coming year.
KDXE-AM is currently owned by the Austin, Texas-based Simmons Media Group which owns a number of sports stations across the country including KSUD 730 AM in West Memphis. Calls to the corporate headquarters were not returned."
