Is HD Moving forward

So, espcially for those of you that are running an HD channel - how has the public taken to it so far? Is anyone realizing any income from it yet?

No one should be making any income from it yet. When the HD Alliance was created (large radio groups like CC, CBS, Entercom, Radio One, etc.) they all agreed to not sell or air any advertising on the HD channels untill, I think, 2008. This was to give everyone the time to get up and running and to work out all the kinks. They are discovering more and more kinks along the way, so I'm sure it will be awhile before money is made. Besides the fact that maybe 10 people in Columbus actually own an HD radio, and they all work in the business!

Not sure this is the correct place to put text, using a screne reader so here goes. I haven't heard an HD radio at all. What does the AM sound like? I read somewhere you had to put an external radio if you were going to use the Polk clock radio. If so, who is going to do that????? I hear the radios flip from HD to analog if reception isn't good. I'm waiting for an MP3 player that will flip back to 8 track when the "file is not found" dialogue comes up.

Who are the broadcasters kidding? The longer it takes for IBOC to get up and running, the harder it will be to get market share I think.

Quality wise, I heard AM sounds like FM and FM sounds like CD... however, I don't know anyone with a unit, so I'm speaking on hearsay. However, I listen to some HD stations over the stream. Here's a link to all of Clear Channel's HD stations. Even the Columbus stations' are on here. It's nice, cause it's like satellite right now, with no commercials. Makes the day go by faster at the office...

Cool, I haven't checked the page in awhile because the Columbus stations took forever to go up here. WNCI's HD2 channel (Stevie's Boom Room) sounds good so far. Too bad WNCI couldn't go the way of this channel 24/7 :) Maybe the JVC KD-HDR1 would be a worthwhile purchase afterall. About $150 on eBay.
