Is Hokie *That Stupid?*

Hokie took a stupid pill today. Saying that everyone would like to see "an alumni" take John Brady's place as LSU basketball coach, and then saying variations of that, repeatedly referring to "an alumni".

Really, Hokie can't be that stupid. Nobody can be. But then again, there is Mitchell.

Hokie and Deke on Friday afternoons sound so bad together, maybe it was just a terminal case of trying to see how absolutely bad radio can sound.

On WWL yet. That's how far radio has sunk.

Oh God, the thought of hearing that usage on the radio makes my skin crawl.

A singular indefinite article (an) used to refer to a plural noun (alumni).

Alumnus = one male graduate
Alumna = one female graduate
Alumnae = multiple female graduates
Alumni = multiple male graduates or an accepted generic reference to a mixed group comprised of both male and female grads.

What Hokie said on WWL, "an alumni" would be the same if he said that he wanted to go to the zoo and see "an elephants".

BRRRRRRRR... <shudder> ;D
