Is Houston Wireless now?

I saw a topic a while back that Houston was going to be Wireless, I took my laptop down to Houston on monday for Doctor Tests that I had to do, and it did find comcast wireless network but some of the things did not work. Is it not all setup yet?

The Houston Wireless campaign is beyond the planning stage, but they are having tremendous problems with implementation as they started to lay everything out on paper. It was in the news the other day that it is going to be delayed for a year or more and may have to go back to the drawing board.

They have not even started the install yet when it is complete it will cost $14 a month to use stupid plus is it gonna slow dirt slow

Slow or not, I wouldn't mind surfing the web with my PDA when I am fooling around downtown.
They are having bbig problems with it because of concerns with who the provider would be. They shure don't have a problem with installing red light cameras ;D I ran one of those 2 days ago, I am now waiting for my mail to get here with a letter from The City of Houston.

I have sprint wireless and I use my laptop any where I want, at work, home in the park and it hasent giving me any problems, and all I pay is like 46 a month

Yes get Sprint or Cingular wireless should be worth it you should be able to either on the hwy out in the country do not think you could use them in the desert

I think I rather pay the 14.99 a month rather than 46 dollars. I guess it all comes down to what type of webpages you view. I mostly view Text pages and e-mail. No Flash webapges for me. and I don't stream music nor videos so paying an extra 46 dollars a month besides the usual 50 bucks a month really seams useless to me.

Hey DJ, well I never really use m laptop out of the city when I go out of town I leave it home, but imma go ahead and try it to see what happends

Juan, I used to have comcast but they are a rip off, and I live out here in the northside area by crosstimbers and 59 north I tried at&t but the only offered dial up service so thats why
i went with sprint.

Geez, we're the fourth largest city in the country. We ought to be one of the most wired. I think there are some folks at city hall that consider wireless some sort of newfangled invention.

Just get AT&T DSL mid class for about $24 a month you will get pretty good speeds
