Is howie carr counting the days until his exit from wrko ?

What would happen to Nancy Shack, Howie's producer and Jerry Williams last producer? Also, how did Nancy Shack get the on-air name "Sandy" ? What's the big secret as to her identity?

There was no big secret. Howie used to change the name of everybody. For example, I was the promotion director at WRKO back in 2000 when the presidential race between Bush and Gore was going on. Howie occasionally wanted me on because I was from Connecticut and Gore's running mate was Joe Lieberman, the senator from Connecticut. But rather than allow me to use my real name, he decided to call me "Lieberman" whenever I was on the air with him.

It's true, M and over 50 (like me) and people tired of heavy political talk (note however that Howie will sometimes break it up if
he has on Max Robins, or the guy from Trans Siberian Orchestra, etc). For spoken word sports is hot, wide demos, desirable ones.
Ad money out there. More people want to hear talk about the Sox or Pats, not nec. the mayoral election or next year's governor's
race etc. Brady and Kuji, more of interest than Baker or Coakley etc.

Maybe lifestyle "light" talk or celeb gossip or "hot talk"?

If memory serves me right, there was a talk station that did just what you suggested, viz, "light talk" in recent years. In fact, it was right here in the Boston area. They used to call it "WTKK". Listeners didn't really take well to it. Now it's one of 5-6 freakin' hip-hop stations in the market.
