Is Howie Carr Still Relevant?

It's been a while now since longtime Boston talk host Howie Carr ended his relationship with Entercom's 680 WRKO to do his daily afternoon drive bellowing on 1510 WMEX....a station that could be thought of as a spiritual "kissing cousin" of the late and not lamented 990 WALE.

Maybe it's just me....but I get the feeling that Howie's whole act is really threadbare at this point.

Whether he can move the ratings needle at 1510 WMEX remains to be seen.

Would anyone actually care if an area station picked him up? I wonder.

Yes, PRO-AM was the first station outside of Boston to carry Howie, and he did quite well for us for the several years I was there. The best day was when he came down and had a vasectomy live on Mary Ann's show (during a remote from the doctor's office) - and then did his own show that afternoon from our studios on the Trail, with a huge bag of ice in his lap.
