Is Imaging getting shafted AGAIN?!!

So now even imaging guys have targets on their forehead!!!
No IMAGING? How do you keep the station's sound "in the game"?

I've worked with this guy Krash Basset and his kickass services www.KrashCreativeSolutions.com , and all I can say is WOW.

The turnaround time is unbelievable... the prod is amazing!

All formats from SF to Seattle, Jacksonville, Miami, Atlanta...

They've got in-house voices or can take your own guy and whip it up.

1)Ever work with these guys?

2)There are services that need a guy in-house to assemble the work parts, but... Where else can a station starving for an ALL-encompassing imaging service go?

This seems a like a thinly-veiled advertisement.

Outsourcing imaging is nothing new. There have been and continue to be countless people who provide full-service imaging like the one you describe. Do a Google search and I'm sure you'll find some more.

Nothing new, however, I wanna read shout-outs to other folks who do this sort of thing-- well.

Groove-Tools, Chase Cuts and Frostbytes are sweet, but they still require an in-house person who knows how to use them.

Unfotunately, Google isn't the word-of-mouth tip I was looking for.

Advertising? Yeah, sure. Because I'm all about getting these names in the right heads. I've been in too many situations where the Imaging Department doesn't exist.

Fair enough. In that case, how about myself? 95% of the demos on http://www.joethevoiceguy.com were produced by myself. I market as a voiceover but offer full service production services too.

I believe Jeff, Emmett and a few others on this board also offer terrific production solutions.

Oh, is that what we're doing? Okay. Yeah, I do full imaging production as well voice only. Depends on the client's wants and needs.

Andy Safnauer at Longtrain Productions does imaging assembly. He's been doing it for years. HQd in Charlotte. He also does some VO himself.

I also "do" full production when requested. The biggest issue is to be sure that other stations in town aren't using the same effects packages..and that can get expensive. Legally I make absolutely sure that the client is covered by a blanket license. There are a lot of outsourcers that use the production library at the station that they are working at to serve thier "freelance" clients. I can give you at least 6 examples of stations that got burned by thier imaging voice/production "service" becasue they "borrowed" some effect stuff from thier station's production room.

I will provide fully produced stuff..clean/punchy and stellar..BUT no "drops" i.e. "Simpsons", "Desparate Housewives", "WWE Wrestling"..etc..etc..all of that stuff can get us in a jam. Also I like to get "real people" from each station and use them only for thier markets..No swiping reaction tracks from a commercial CD.

But I must say Krash's stuff is excellent..He does my tracks for KMGA in Albuquerque

I've got my own imaging effects package that I produce, which gets me around any potential snags. I throw in a subscription to my imaging package for any full image clients. The cost of the package itself is MUCH less expensive than my fully produced stuff, so I don't mind eating that small cost...And the clients seem to like the added bonus.

If a station owns a specific package that they want to use, I clear it with the distributer of the package...So far, no problems there either. I have several packages on my hard drive, but I will NOT use one unless it has been paid for by the client.

Like Jeff, I also won't use drops...Not because of legal implications, but simply because I think they sound cheap, out-dated and stale.

I will try to work with budgets, but I don't claim to be cheap. I'm more willing to bend for smaller stations, but my goal isn't to undercut everyone else's price. My goal is to provide the best quality possible in the shortest amount of time. I can usually redo an entire station in about two weeks (roughly 200-300 sweepers/stabs/etc. and a handful of promos)...But it costs...

There are plenty of people offering decent stuff for a lot less than I am. If you can't hear a difference in quality between my stuff and the lower-priced stuff, then by all means, go for something cheaper...I don't want to waste anyone's money.

Emmett
