Tell us more, tell us more! BTW, the new drop-in signal, 95.1, is "all Buffett, all the time" this weekend...

Time to jump ship! Just kidding... I gotta say something positive for once. I like what Kat is doing and I wish they would stick it to the pap even harder.

I was in Panama City last night for the 97X Listener Appreciation Party at LaVela (self plug: I signed 97X on in 1997 as first PD/afternoons).

What I saw and heard of 107.9PFM was so ridiculous. Couple of sweepers sounded like they were on muddy old carts, some imaging cuts off at the end. Once the Mix show came on at 9pm(?) I was happy, until PFM went OFF THE AIR for hours after that. HOURS. It was off at 1030pm on my way to LaVela, it was off when I was headed back to Destin at about 230-3am. And they were evidently live from SPinakker so that cant be good.

Then I saw the PFM van. What was that? Christmas lights stuck through holes on the van?? Oh my god it is seriously bad.

PFM=Pretty Friggin Miserable. Just sign it off.<P ID="signature">______________

Dammit. PFM could have been the "Great 108" again but then they hired an individual "who knows everything about everything." Departed CC Charlotte, departed CC Panama City. Decided to play "Baby Got Back" because his wife liked it.... Micro-managed to DEATH! There are only 4 or 5 people actually on the air for all 4 stations, all voice-tracked or satellite with the exception of AM drive and PM drive on KAT.
It hurts my heart to see WPFM go down the tubes so quickly. I was there with Skip Bishop, Jeff Davis, Little John and others.

My heart and soul was in WPFM, having built and worked in the Beach Tower studio.

PFM will go the way of "Mix 108", "The Zone" and yada-yada....

And yeah, I picked out the call letters for WILN, and named it Island 106. I signed on the station as the "Witch Doctor." Back when it was on 106.3. Brian Burns worked for Drake-Chenault then and consulted the station. The kids on the air today have never heard Super CFL, WLS, WABC and others. Later, the Steve and Linda morning show.

The last great CHR station in the Panhandle was 98Surf-FM. Happy to have been there with JJ Duling, Tim Kincaid and many great talents. Do you remember when you didn't have to talk over a music bed? And when the heck did that have to happen?

Rambling on, and inviting you to listen to B95.1. It was quite interesting to see the posts from all the people who claimed to know what the new format was going to be.

Hijack, your sources about format changes and Panama
City radio apparently don't have a clue...Nice try. Are you staying at a Holiday Inn Express?

Yes, I stay there often when visiting from Birmingham...and my real name is Jimmy, not Jack...hahahahahaha!

Re: It's Double UH-O !

Mike Stone, Young Preston Young, etc...The hot year(s) of 'PFM was/were 85-86.
You could still play those songs as an 80's version of the Great 108 and
get decent ratings. Nothing was like those days! The minute you hit Bay County
you saw that yellow billboard and it was fun till the signal faded. Why
can't those people at Double O get something so simple --- right? 'PFM
blew away everybody playing 25 sings and it never sounded stale. Palmer,
Pet Shop Boys, Janet Jackson, Animotion, Mike & the Mechanics. Even the
request line (hell, yes) 234-double 0 double 0...sounded great and now
Double is a number for nightmare at 108. Geez.

Were you at Surf before or after it was 98one Classic Rock?? Had to be
before. Your right..it was good and popular with the crazy signal! I
still think 98-one Classic Rock was one of the best sounding (musically)
to this date...didn't fare bad in the old ratings book either.

The good old (poor) days...anybody got that old 'PFM ID with the cute
girl saying "it's my favorite (radio) station?"

It's been a year or so since we brought up the old days of PFM/Island/etc.
Oh and Pirate, X, etc., since "someone" in Destin would be hurt if he
was left out of the Mix. And I don't mean Mix 108. That was lame.
