IS IT JUST ME OR IS BOSTON RADIO BORING

I think that the commercial stations around Boston are more interesting that the city ones. I would even put 92.5 in that category since they are not really a strong city signal - heck, listen to their ads for places local to their actual Merrimack Valley location. Frank 106.3 in Nashua is a better classic hits station than ROR. I am not a fan of college radio since most days of the week, there's no consistency - WERS does a decent job whereby things like reggae music's "Rockers" airs each evening. I do like ZLX because if for example, I know an Aerosmith song is coming up, I can't possibly guess what song it will be since they can play an "oh wow" song and not lose their listeners. If ROR is going to play Aerosmith, it's one of maybe 3-4 possible songs. I don't mind the "hits" if I can get a "I haven't heard that in a long while" tune. Weekend listening seems more interesting to me if stations do a theme - ex. WBOS's 90s weekend or WPLM's Twin Spin weekend.

That's why I always preferred WBOQ to WODS when WODS was oldies/classic hits. Neither played Aerosmith, but 'BOQ would go much deeper on the British Invasion bands, Motown acts, Dionne Warwick, Carly Simon, etc. than 'ODS ever did. For the big rock hits, though, 'ROR is pretty much the only game in town unless you want to get album tracks along with them on 'ZLX. 'ODS, of course, is out of the geezer music business and 'BOQ is more of an AC oldies station.

and in closing. All that needs to be done is for "Funkytown" to go on 97.7 and everything will be all set!!!
and if you all don't agree, than, 97.7 should also be WRKO as well.
there! Final!!! No more, let's not confuse Program Management. These are good ideas. Nothing else because we don't want to confuse Program Management
there!!! Everybody will be happy

Forget the thousands they serve with what they run, they need to change to satisfy one person :) Well at least he should be happy Yahoo sports radio is plentiful on 1510. We have our own real characterson this board like WEEI caller Cranky Yankee...and some feel Boston radio is taaaaaarible... ;D

Yes, with the exception of WRKO and WJIB, Boston radio is extremely boring because they play the same CRAP over and over, and OVER again----!

When people stop liking those "crap" songs and stop listening to those stations, they'll stop playing them. People who post in groups like this are the "1 percent" of the radio-listening nation.

A vote for Boring. Plenty of great content....not many stations willing to try it. Research backfired and eliminated a lot of great songs and artists cause average folks couldn't name that tune in five notes. Talk can be interesting if it plays to the audience and not the ego host. There's a TON of great, appealing music that would attract audience and advertisers if folks with musical experience were allowed to program locally. Variety can be well done. CBS once did it with the original Softrock WEEI/FM 103.

That's corporate radio for you. Heard a line in a movie once that's fitting to this situation..and I'm paraphrasing "Corporations make things safe and boring"

And what do you want instead? Government radio?

I wouldn't mind if our CHR and AC stations sounded more like BBC Radio 1 and Radio 2.

You actually think the kids would like that?? How about Ryan Seacrest?

Not you, Boston radio for the most part is YAWWWWNNNN. What was the question again? Put a toe outside the box and it is the end of life as we know it

It's you. Boston radio is vibrant, alive, relevant and connected to the community.

That is, as long as the community means two guys playing Can You Top This while doing Stern imitations and babbling with a bimbo about the latest red carpet event and launching into a newcast which consists of some dim-witted news reader reciting Globe headlines followed by an ill-fated attempt at witty banter.

Boston radio is filled with such things and is therefore exciting and interesting.
