Is it me or is Clear Channel slowly killing KCI?

Over the past few year's I've noticed some huge changes going on over at KC. Killing of Maze, brining in Elvis, and Trey from Z in the city, and I believe only one of their staff is LIVE and actually in New Haven? They seem to be putting a lot of attention into KISS [witch in my opinion really isn't living up to it's high market rank]. Just me? I don't think...

Actually the question you should be asking is Clear Channel Killing radio outright, and the clear (channel) answer is hell yeah!!!! Clear Channel itself needs to be killed outright!!! (and no I am NOT advocating violence, just the end of a predator!!!

You think a big company such as Clear Channel wouldn't have any problems with their stations and have them sounding 100% 24/7 365. CBS Radio never seems to have problems with their stations.

Here we go with another Hate on Clear Channel Bandwagon ::) I will say this though, it is amazing what some so-called engineers will pass off as acceptable audio quality these days. I don't think KCI's processing sounds good at all.

I have not tune in KC101 lately,The River 105.9 sounds good,Country 92.5 sounds good too.Non CC stations like WDRC sounds awesome They make a 3" speaker in a 1980's boombox sound like Bose. WRCH sounds great too.today I was listening to WTIC as they were playing the old AT40's with Casey Kasem.as I've notice the audio sounds flat.the other music TIC sounds great.

I agree, KC101's audio has been terrible lately. I The music is all over the place. Regardless of who is killing it, I think WKCI is dying a slow death.

not to be mean but the Engineer probably listens to the station they like instead (WPLR) and just looks at Meters to make sure the audio is at 100. If I were to ever become an Engineer which I would like to be and Engineer, Dj, Production ETC as my job, oh hell will work for food to be on the two formats i like Rock or Top 40. I do agree it KC101 sounds like Crap at times. is it Kiss 95.7 or KC 101 that syndicates a show from California on sunday night that sounds like a 64K uncompressed internet stream.. I always get these two station confused.

Audio quality is a crucial part of presentation and KCI's processing sounds extremely tinny and flat, with no agression, and sounds like it has the EQ of an AM CHR (AM CHR's would tend to have very bold and obvious EQ's that would sometimes drone out parts of the song). Why doesn't the Engineer just pick a CHR preset off of the processor and lock it up 8)

KCI has been slowly dying for a long time! The building, which used to have over 100 employees, is now a ghost town . It's so sad. Both KCI & ELI have so much potential, but will never ever be considered winners again because each station only has full time employee. (Vinnie & Mayer are quality personalities in my opinion, but they can't do it on their own).

I know radio will probably NEVER go back to having live jocks 24/7, but c'mon...you NEED a local morning show and afternoon show. ELI needs a local afternoon show and KCI needs a local morning show. But then again, what do I know...I'm just a washed up former radio personality who's jaded by the business ;D

I wasn't...I was being sarcastic :) In my humble opinion, KCI doesn't need much to sound like a great station again...just the basics: a PD & Promo Dir. who's dedicated soley to KCI's success, a local morning show.

Say what you will about Glenn, but he & Pat and then he & Vinnie had a great LOCAL morning show. I was actually talking to someone the other day about how great Glenn, Vinnie & Feduzi used to be. The best was the billboard in West Haven on 95 which simply said:

The Priest
The Punk
The Monkey
Mornings on KC101

Vinnie is doing a great job on ELI,. I think VP, Coach & Ivan have a great chemistry together. The only thing I'd add would be a radio pro to the mix (someone like a Glenn who's had a long career in radio)...but that would require another salary and we know CC's policy on $$$ LOL!

Interesting.... And slightly amusing.

The only thing I'd add would be a radio pro to the mix (someone like a Glenn who's had a long career in radio)

Huh... Been doing radio since I was 16 non-stop. That was April, 1985, almost 26 years ago. I've been at ELI/KCI/AVZ in one form or another full time since March of '94. Vinnie was on '97-'04, and last January 'til date, and the Coach's been on since '80 or '81, when he was doing sports for Dr. Chris. Before that, he helped start the carrier current station at SCSU in '68, and was there for 2 years.

Between the three of us, we've got over 60 years of professional radio experience.

Just how long, exactly, does one have to be in this business before he or she is a "pro"?

Ivan :p

sorry Ivan. It wasn't meant as an insult or a dig at you or coach. I meant someone who has extensive experience as a talk radio host. I know you've been in radio forever, however the majority of that has been in engineering and sound right? You three are doing a great job!
