Is it me Providence...?

Is it just me or...

When did watching the Providence TV stations become like watching a college station? With the exception of vets like Jim Taricani,Sean Daly,Jim Hummel and a handful of others...the rest seem to be inexperienced kids.

Is it just me or...
I really don't care to have the airtime dominated by car accidents, house fires, and similar filler.

Is it just me or...
I don't care about doppler radar, just tell me what the weather will be like.

Is it just me or...
I don't care about news choppers, and mobile newsrooms etc. How about some thoughtful coverage of issues and events rather than having coverage dictated by police scanners.

Is it just me or...
I'm getting less and less news from local TV.

I don't care about focus groups, demographics...etc. Perhaps if one of the stations had the courage to break from the pack, they'd be rewarded with ratings.

Is it just me or...
I'm dreaming something might change.

Is it just me or...
Is there anyone else out there who's tired of being fed a lot of irrelevant junk day after day?

Look... were re-hashing the same damned subject YET AGAIN on here...

Yes, it's tiring, and yes it keeps coming back up...

Here are my thoughts. The Newscast that you want is something from 1975. Today things are more high tech and faster paced. Don't expect it to revert back to what it once was. Yes todays News is full of fresh faces. I think it's because the more experienced talent moves to larger markets. A pretty young face tends to cost less too since many are right out of school. Weathercasts continue to use the latest and greatest terminology to seem like they are ahead of the pack. Remember the Doppler 10, 11 or 12 thousand? Well apparently Thousands are no longer good enough. WCBS in New York now has the Doppler 2 MILLION! It's all a part of appearing to offer more than the competition. You'll hear all kinds of catch phrases from TV stations. Most mean nothing. But if it sounds high tech... they'll use it. It's all in a name.

Now please excuse me as I step away from my Rocket 9,000 computer. I'm going into the kitchen to make a Terrific Tantalizing Turkey pocket which I will then place on a Super 6 sandwich disc.

Yeah but....

Try to be charitable. At least it's a thread out of Rhode Island
that doesn't bash anybody. Think of it as a ray of sunshine.
