Is It My ears?

Is it my ears, my radio, my speakers....it seems like the audio quality of the primarily talk channels has gotten worse.

That's ALL the channels! XM's sound quality has greatly diminished through the years with the addition of so many channels. I've been a subscriber since spring of 02' and the difference between now and then is unbelievable! Changes really need to be made, and soon.

Which music channels do you suggest be dropped, because dropping weather, sports play-by-play or talk channels isn't going to free up enough bandwidth to matter. And remember, all the Clear Channel stations are off limits.

My suggestion would be to first condense some channels. For example combine the boneyard and liquid metal as well as octane and ethel. Some of the talk channels need to go as well. Oprah, Sports Xtra and the weather/ traffic stations too. XM sounded far better back before any of those channels existed. Either channel changes or some kind of technical upgrade for bandwith should be made to improve audio performance. I never signed up for XM due to the vast number of channels, it was the programming, sound quality and great playlists unavailable on most terrestrial radio stations. I just wish they would make a few improvements to benefit us all. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

More receivers such as the Mirge that will operate across the complete bandwidth of both networks will eventually be produced. When 90% of listeners have these new radios, channels will no longer be duplicated. Deals will be given to subs with old units where the costs of replacement receivers will be offset by free or greatly discounted service payments (think: free cellphones). If new services such as video are kept out, this will free up a lot of bandwidth.
