Is it too early for 2010 predictions?

My picks......

Clear Channel in Providence will still humm along with Premium choice on WWBB and WSNE.Morning drive will remain live on B101.

Citadel...

We know its comming..

Lite 105 and 92 Pro-Fm will be the Citadel answer to Premium choice everyone but morning drive on these two stations will become canned crap.

Delilah will debut on Lite and I have a feeling Art Spencer will be the first to go.Too many choices in syndication for evenings.

Hot 106- All syndication and canned crap.

WPRO-AM. Someone is going and it wont be be Matt Allen. There will be a shift and Matt will go to Afternoon drive. The other three shifts I dont have an anwser.Dan will go to Morning drive or Middays if he stays.

WHJJ-Same ole Same ole.

WALE- A tower will fall down and or the electricity will be turned off again.

Anything else....

I would love to see Matt Allen go to afternoon drive. I don't think it will happen though. If York gets the boot, I see WPRO hiring some no name from Albany (for example). For as much crap as I give Dan on this board.... I actually do think he's very intelligent. He comes across well and he knows his stuff. I can almost guarantee you that whoever fills Dan's shoes won't know a tenth of what he knows about this state.

I don't see either WPRO-FM or LITE ROCK going canned in the morning. I think both morning shows have strong followings. I can see middays being at risk. You have three female jocks on the three stations. One goes and one of the remaining voicetracks one station middays and does her own shift live. Simply due to longevity I would think Tanya would be the one to go although if I had to make the decision I'd oust Jessica.

No B101 changes. They'd be crazy to go canned in the morning as TC and Kristin are the only two there able to build up any kind of a following.

No Coast changes. It's running cheaply even if no one listens.

Nights at LITE ROCK definitely at risk and Delilah would be the one I'd pick as a potential replacement.

Forget about HJY predictions. The station defies description when it comes to immunity from changes other than paring down the morning show members. Sooner or later what's happening in radio in 2009 will hit HJY but who knows when?

Cat Country went through their changes and I assume that's the PD voicetracking middays. He never gives his name. I don't know who's on nights.

I see Yorke leaving WPRO.

Does it really matter who's on the air at HOT 106? Does the audience for that format even care as long as you have a street team to hit the clubs?

If Yorke leaves, Mrs. Joy will go back to reading the dictionary or the
phone book, certainly won't be listening to another station.

He's just so interesting and the most intelligent of the crew. Next week it will be 10 years for him at WPRO and my family and I enjoyed every minute of it and will continue to do so.

For the anniversary, we'd like to see if anything will be done for him by WPRO brass, the way so much fuss is made over the other guys birthdays and such.

CONGRATULATIONS DAN YORKE!!

10 years is a good run at one station. Even if he were fired tomorrow, he's had it pretty good. Even Seinfeld only lasted for 9 years. Yeah I know... That's a TV show.... but whatever..lol

Congratulations Dan.

Other than the on air tantrums that are so staged I think Yorke is good. As far as intelligence I don't think De Petro or Cianci are lacking in that department. It's just that their manner of speech is more Rhode Island and they don't always come across as being that articulate.

Yeah the tantrums are one thing I never understood about Yorke. Certain personalities go on the air and you can tell when they are legitimately pissed. However you can tell that Dan plays up the anger just for dramatic effect. His anger is at the top of the scale one moment, but then he suddenly calms down two seconds later. Nobody can change emotions that fast. He does this on a consistent basis too! It's a little nuts. Besides that he is Ok in my book. A little quirky, but it makes him interesting.

Yes we care. Big Boy morning show does not work here in Providence. Hot 106 need a better signal, and a good local morning show. I still cant believe Hot 106 let DJ Buck go ( DJ Buck Hot 93.7 CT PD is doing great things in Hartford ).

York is a phony. His dead air silences are annoying, his "angry outbursts" not believable, and his subject matter is so limited to politics that he loses lots of potential listeners who would go to his sponsors .
Matt is a snot nosed parody of a conservative who does attract younger listeners.
They need a female liberal in afternoon drive. As far as callers go, the cons call more than the liberals and such a host would get quite lively interesting exchanges which would be easy to sell.
It's all about numbers and money after all.

Heaven help THAT guy!
Outsiders seem to be unwelcome.

And where what you look like can be more important than what you sound like in some cases on some stations.

I am fearful for 2010 with Citadel heading in the "Premium Choice" direction. I have no hope, for example, that PRO-FM's jocks will be voicetracking in other markets, as opposed to the opposite. PRO-FM already has nights voicetracked by a sub-par jock from a smaller market.

I mentioned this a few years ago, but I fear that Citadel could regionalize some of its stations. In other words, could they possibly simulcast PRO-FM on Fun 107, given the significant overlap of markets and the cost-cutting that would be involved?

My biggest hope for 2010 is that 'HJY does not change. Amazingly, the station has more local content than most Clear Channel stations in larger markets. And it was refreshing this morning to hear Pete Silva covering Paul and Al's shift, rather than just run it jockless on a holiday.

I predict more of the same. More and more shows will be canned crap. HJY is a floating target with all of their local talant... Some are going to be taken out. Mid days are a goner and either Charles or Paul and Al may also get the boot.

PRO-FM already has some canned crap in the form of the ralphie show... I dont see the morning show getting the boot..they get their moneys worth out of them thus far with the mornings and the flashbacks on the weekends but who knows. Jess on mid days=POOF!

WBRU=Station I listen to the most...College station with all local talant which is pulled from the student body, while not the most talented people, they are local and will stay that way..THANK GOD.

On a side note...Just bought a 2010 Toyota...the radios come standard with an AUX in for those Zunes and iPods.. My commute will consist of my "car" playlist on my Zune..WOOT!
