Is Jack Turning The Corner?

It may, especially if they bring a little bit of life to the station as they started to do with a very small step with the acoustic show on Sunday mornings. I also think they should remove the really hard 70's and 80's rock, but they seem to be slowly phasing it out based on what I've heard catching the station the past couple of weeks. I actually do like a lot of the music that they play, especially since they do have a lot of 80's New Wave that my old favorite station, WLIR, used to air. I understand the pain that CBS-FM fans felt when losing their station and would love to see oldies (done right) on the air in NYC again, but a lot of the music Jack plays deserves a home on the air too. PLJ just doesn't do it for me...too much celebrity gossip, American Idol pop, etc., and honestly, their ratings aren't far better than Jack's at this point.

I doubt JACK will attain very high ratings without music changes and addition of jocks and news/info updates. As for WPLJ----maybe the soon to be new owner Citadel will make some much needed changes! ( Scott's act is old & tired! Rocky too!)

Bring Back WCBS FM!!!

I really miss CBS-FM, in spite of the fact my own webcast has picked up many former CBS-FM listeners. I hated the way they tried to make a scapegoat out of Joe McCoy. Can't they just admit their own mis-management of the station? God knows they're not going to ix things until they do. The dreaded stream on HD2 is not a replacement for CBS-FM!

Unfortunately WCBS-FM is now damaged goods as far as I'm concerned. Another broadcaster should pick up the ball that CBS/Infinity dropped with their move to Jack. The ABC Saturday evening oldies show isn't bad, but Mark Simone is no Dan Ingram, Cousin Brucie or Harry Harrison.

At this point B103 on long island should start doing advertising in fairfield and New Haven counties in Ct It seems my parents and all their freinds are tuning into b-103. Love to see how their doing in the Stamford-Norwalk book as well as the Bridgeport book. If they were to get or take the avertising from those counties and southern long Island maybe then Cox will wake up and bring back oldies in southwestern CT and CBS radio would bring back oldies to NYC but unfortunately, it will probably never happin

I think part of the problem is there's a translator (for WSHU?) on an adjacent channel from what I recall. I remember B103 getting creamed by it, but I don't remember where exactly I happened to be at that point. It would be nice if they made a little noise and took some of the Coast's audience with them.

Cox Radio has been known for their mis-steps too (They took John Harper off Star 99.9 and now have the worst excuse of a morning show ever!). I highly doubt that Cox would try to make another go of oldies - especially since they claim that their "micro-researched" format for Coast is done by people in Fairfield County. My question is .... what consultant is in Fairfield County?

LOL OK, I'll grab 'em and you can push 'em into the river! Then we can toss them some life preservers made of cement blocks with the Jack logo painted on them!
