Is Jim Scott's 7am time check on delay?

Just curious. I guess there's lots of other places to get the exact time but I just wondered about this one.
At the very least, it's probably about 8 seconds off for the IBOC HD Radio delay. If they have a delay in line, that could add another 10 seconds or more to it.

It's supposed to be backtimed so the delay doesn't screw it up.

Exact time? Try your cell phone, your tri-athlon watch or your computer. You must be the only knucklehead who thinks this "1957 morning show feature" is still relevant. Oh, wait, maybe if the Dawn Patrol had tried doing this they'd still be on the air!

It is kinda silly isn't it. This is 2011 and you'd think they would dump the time checks. When I hear it, I think of the old local Shillitos Dept Store Time phone number.

Checked it against my Atomic Clock.

The beep came at about 2 seconds after 7, making it 2 seconds slow in this case. The clock isn't a real high quality one so I'm not sure how often it 'resets' itself, so that's pretty good.

So, thumbs up WLW for keeping the time check going.

You probably wouldn't really appreciate it until it was gone.

Hi, this is Jim Scott for the all new Jim Scott digital sundial. Just place it on your patio, look out the sliding glass door at 7 a.m. and you'll know exactly what time it without having to listen to my silly time check feature! Who needs an atomic clock from the Naval Observatory when GOD himself can SHOW you the exact time on my new digital sundial. I'll be at "Sight and Sound" this Saturday from noon 'til 3, Jim Scott digital sundial time, and will personally autograph your new timepiece. Distributed by Bull-ova.

With apologies to Jim Scott, The Big One, and all former "Sight and Sound" employees.

There will always be a delay on WLW so don't trust them for accuracy anyway.

That is so funny.

I remember it.

Without Shillito's we would all have been looking skyward and trying to calculate things on our slide rules.

:D

That reminds me, I bumped my foot on the table this morning. I have got to call the Light House to replace my lamp, and to tell them Ted McKay sent me.

I use my atomic watch...which tracks WWV nicely for obvious reasons.
