IS JOHN FROM ALPERT'S GONE NOW?

I haven't heard any spots, but now that Alpert's is Raymour & Flanigan Furniture does that mean John is a casualty of the sale? I could be mistaken, but he may be the longest-running voice on spots heard in the Providence market...or at least on spots for one specific sponsor.

I have heard that he will still be part of their marketing package along with the female voice that has been introduced over the last 4-5 years.

We still have those spots....every time I play them I have to sing along- "Route Six,,,SeeeeeKonk"

"I am pleased not to hear the dingbat from Phred's drugs"

NO KIDDING. Somebody's nephew?

About "John from Alpert's:"
I think he's an announcer in Seattle.
I've heard him in various markets, voicing various accounts.
UNCANNY how much he sounds like Al Michaels.

And here's a meet-and-greet that production buffs won't want to miss...

"In a world where convention speakers are the same-old-same-old consultants, conference-after-conference, ONE voice stands out..."

None other than King-of-the-Trailers (and LOTS of work in the booth on Fox lately): Don LaFontaine, appearing at Dan O'Day's 12th Annual International Radio Creative & Production Summit, in LA in August (http://danoday.com/summit.shtml).

It'd be worth the trip just to see him pull up in that white stretch limo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQRtuxdfQHw).

Lafontaine is going to be there!?! My bet is Skynet will be there to trade insider secrets with him and give him some good critique as to how a "real" professional does it....

Don't ask me why I even remember this but years ago there was a ProJo article about a local woman vacationing in LA or Hollywood who heard John's voice on a spot on the radio there. Somehow she made calls & tracked him down & actually phoned him while there saying she recognized his voice on the Alpert's spots & he said something like "and so..".
