Is John Stehlin still at WROC TV?

My wife likes the way John Stehlin does the weather in the Channel 8 morning show. She's noticed that he's not on anymore. Vacation? Ill? Still there?

If Stehlin was moved from weekday mornings to weekends perhaps the next move is out the door. Someone that I know, who appeared as a guest on 8's morning show, told me that Stehlin was one of the most unpleasant people she's ever met and that she would never appear on that program again.

As long as Nexstar makes money off 8's morning show, it will remain on the air. There might be a change when it comes to on-air staff however. The current team is about as entertaining as cardboard.

There is a change. Melanie Barnas got canned and Katrina Irwin may be tapped for the new morning host position.

Hey, don't insult cardboard. When you think about it, who else could they put on the morning show that will take it knowing their job probably will be at stake? The mangement over there seriously needs to take a look at other mornings shows, not necessarily here, to get some ideas on product improvement. So what if you have to spend a little more, it usually works out in the end.

It didn't take the new ND long to make some personnel changes did it? However I heard that Eldridge wanted Barnas out when she first arrived but couldn't do anything because she was part of the 8/31 deal. I am surprised to hear about Irwin only because I thought the powers-to-be at 8 were grooming her for anchor duty.

I sent him a couple of emails when he first arrived at the station. I was just simply asking him basic stuff like meteorology, and how long has he been in the field and he use to respond by asking me, "Why do I ask?" I wasn't asking personal nosy questions, I was just being a friendly viewer. After that, I didn't send him anymore emails. I asked Jonathan Meyers the same questions, and he was overjoyed and gave me a good run down of his career. I am beginning to thin Stehlin is unpleasant.

Like I mentioned earlier, this guy has the personality of cardboard. Like many others, he will become a part of history at Channel 8 very soon, especially now that Barnas is gone.

No one messes with Tom. lol I remember a couple months back while Tom was doing his Traffic report John started to make fun of the way that Tom talked (I guess the native Rochester accent). Well little did John know that his mic was still open. And Tom asked him "What?". IT was an embarassing moment for Stehlin. He needs to go. He doesn't belong here.

Tom George has more talent in his pinky finger than Stehlin has in his entire body.

Not only is Tom a decent person, but he's been part of Rochester's broadcasting community for many years, and will be around long after Stehlin is gone and forgotten.

If those two stations are owned by Nexstar, then it's possible that Stehlin is performing a job similar to what the weather-guessers on R-News are doing; working in one market and covering several others within a certain radius. It's called not having to hire extra people and saving on payroll and health benefits.

My wife and I have a good laugh every time Stehlin comes on the air....we call him the "Pillsbury Doughboy".
