Is Kiss 99.9 real country?

I noticed the songs sounded good every time I would land on the station while seeing what I could hear. Given the station's history, I didn't consider staying around.

But one day I was in a store and I heard a station ID with the words "real country". Now there is a Real Country affiliate in the area which sounds totally different.

But in a restaurant I got the truth. I heard Rascal Flatts. I heard something loud but not too bad, just not what I want to hear while eating. So I left.

In the same restaurant again, I heard the words "Today's Hit Country" and three women (recorded voices broadcast by the station) saying how much they liked it. Okay, it's neither, but it's somewhere in between. If you're wondering why I kept going back, I just got something to drink. Another restaurant has food I really enjoy but no music, but their drinks are too high.

"As country as the day is long"? Better than it used to be. However, I've heard some stations which, if they claimed that this time of year, would be referring to Tierra del Fuego.

I tried WESC in my motel room but never got a listenable signal.

On Sunday morning when there's pretty much nothing else, I did enjoy Kiss Country Classics. I've known they had those for years. The Real country affiliate is, of course, doing church services.

You can't call that new country crap "Real" Country. It's pop music and that's all.

Well, sure, I know that now. But I was getting really lucky with this station. Most of what I was hearing was actually country. Then when I actually sat in a restaurant and listened, yeah, it was as you said.

Sunday morning is definitely real country.

I will say it's better than it was, but I still wouldn't listen for long.
