Is KLLI going to the crapper?

With only a 1.5 and ranked below the 50% [by 20% under that too] for all of Dallas radio stations... With the whole Russ ordeal and then the very Unprofessional hiding of the truth from the listeners about Pugs and Kelly...is the past going to catch up with Live 105.3? When it comes to ratings, there is atleast a 6 month curve to demonstrate the truth of actual listenership. If they have a 1.5 now, I can only imagine when the truth really catches up with them. I guess the new method of PPM will show the results. Good luck Russ- with your lame ass show. Same old, same old, same old. AND yes, Clo, it is time to take a frickin break!! Longer than you thought this time...

One thing I have to disagree about, is that actually, the station was professional in their handling of the way P&K left. In the business world, it is always unprofessional, and potentially libelous to discuss why an employee leaves an employer. Especially in a contentious situation, and especially if either party has a history of litigation. The less said the better.

KLLI is headed to the dumper by 1Q 2009. I have a feeling they'll replace it with their HD subtier (alt rock)..personally id rather see it go americana or a KGSR(AAA)-type format, as Dallas is sorely lacking in this kind of music.

On managment, Spittle can be the considered the sole reason this station has been run into the ground, his handling of the current RMS issue as well as P&K, not to mention his total screwjob of KRLD

I turned on the Jagger Show this morning for about 15 minutes... I can not take it any more! It's like they have given up and are just "mailing it in". It is the same crap over and over... I have actually gone back to the Edge. <gasp>

I have a feeling they see the writing on the wall, hence why the low performance issue.

I wouldn't say it's all over for the station at this point. Maybe some fresh leadership could pull them back from the brink. A new perspective on balancing the talent and finding their strengths.

Can't listen to Jagger. Nothing personal. For some reason the combination of their voices and the badly set-up bits wear on my last nerve.

Ben and Skin. I tried to listen. I gave them an opportunity to improve, get past those first weeks and work out the kinks. It has to be tough going from weekends to having to come up with enough material to fill an entire week. But I finally gave up. The just aren't interesting or compelling. Face it. They are dead boring.

Russ. Retire or retool. The same bits with the same bunch of responses from the same bunch of laughing clowns. I still pop in from time to time. It's like stopping in at your favorite old bar to have a drink and hang out with the old gang, but you leave after a couple of rounds to go some place a little cleaner and fresher. The single most annoying thing/person on the show has got to be Trey Trenholm. They keep trying to pass him off as the smart guy. He's anything but. A collection of useless catch phrases don't make you smart. I will give him props for his sports knowledge though. Didn't he used to be Russ' bookie or something?

Aside from KZPS, this is still on my favorite station list. I just don't give it as much of my time as I used to.

I guess the new PPM will tell the tale in the long run.

After 7 the radio is OFF.

I will listen to KLLI for most of my day. I'm not saying that I enjoy everything they do, but I give Jagger a listen to on my way to school, I listen to Ben and Skin on my way home, and I listen to Russ as much as I can.

I listen more for the news, and stories then the bits that they do. And besides I listen because I have friends at the station like Eric from B&S; and Jimmy from Jagger

I couldn't agree with you more. Spittle wasn't really ready for prime time when he slithered his way in the door.

KLLI isnt like the LA-based live station, we dont have any decent on-air staff like Carolla. We have 2nd tier talent like chris jagger and russ martin ran by a guy who is used to running 3rd tier stations.

Its had a somewhat decent run, mucked up by spittles mismanagment

KLLI Live 1053 is dead. It's on life support while they try to figure out how to pay out the contracts with the "talents", excuse me the no talents. Free Fm failed, 97.1 free fm in La is reportedly dropping the free fm name. They have the worst ratings for a 97000watt station, complete waste of money. The would do much better with plain music. Russ martins ratings are dropping miserably. Classic 101 beat Klli in ratings.Classic 101 probably spends a third of what Klli spends in powering the station. WIth CBS radio going down and selling stations left and right KLLI seems more of a burden in a major market. Market # 5 and such a powerful station is going to waste. Remember the days when RMS would announce his ratings for a whole hr, Where are those days? JD wanna hear that again for the 10th time, oh everest did you ever hear this for the 20th time, i gotta hear that again, JD please kiss my butt, Clo is it time for a break, Get a clock.

Redeye/Blackeye, couldn't agree with you more. Stick a fork in them, the station is done. ;D I guess Apple, Microsoft, etc. need to thank them for the increase of sales of the MP3 players in the DFW market.

What they need to realize, as I now know I'm not the only one thinking this, is that if you're playing your so-called "best of" and it takes the listener about 10 minutes to realize that it's not LIVE....then your schtick is old and your bit has been done too many times.

Why does KLLI get all of this attention? KZPS has had almost as many evolutions as 93.3, and the ZPS morning show is truly a throwaway product from the mid-80's. The voice inflection, the "humor", it wasn't THAT good 20 years ago! KLLI also seems to be in transition again, but if it sucks so bad, why the constant discussion? A former employee's club perhaps?

Live 105.3 is a prime example of letting their success go to their head. And the cockiness that goes with the success. They got comfortable, over confident, and thought they were "above all". I think that is why they have been in constant discussion. Live 105.3 is falling, and falling fast, and it is their own internal mistakes that is going to lead to their demise. This should have been covered in the introductory Radio 101 class on what definitely not to do to radio.

Agreed. I hope Spittle gets fired ASAP.
