Is KMEL really running a seperate HD-2?

I have my suspicions. I heard a Redman promo saying "You're listening to my boy Reggie on KMEL 106 The People's Station!" Didn't mention anything about HD-2.

Mabye they're not really running that HD-2 seperately from the main channel? In other words, they're prehaps simulcasting and mabye soon the actual Extreme channel will be up?
______________

Or maybe they're running promos that were once created for the main channel and using them on HD-2.

The HD-2 stream is definetly different than the main station.

KMEL Extreme HD-2: http://mfile.akamai.com/21875/live/reflector:46007.asx?bkup=46008

I will say this... KMEL (and what seems to be all CCSF) HD streams sound terrible. They have a terrible AC hum with the audio. KMEL's main stream sounds VERY good.

Depends on the definition of decent... Listen for the hum when the audio fades out.

If Clear Channel San Francisco is trying to get folks to sample the new formats on KYLD-HD2 and KMEL-HD2, they should try again with the audio quality. The AC hum on the INTERNET streams should be corrected.
______________
