Is KSTQ's Hot 104.3 Jockless?

I've been out of town for a couple weeks so please correct me if I'm wrong, but I tuned in around noon today and there was no "Back in the day Buffet." Another side note, the RDS on my clock no longer displays "HOT1043." They are still playing station bumpers and ID's, but I have not heard a DJ yet.

Could this be a sign that Double T 104-3 is near?

Periodically, I have noticed that they have had a voice or two, but for the most part I have observed the same thing.
I wonder if 97.3 will turn more CHR once Hot is gone...

It is a shame, imo, the station had potential, and I don't think we'll ever see this music again on what was once Kiss104.3.

maybe i'm not wise about the world of HIP-HOP but, isn't this stuff on "The beat".....? i think if ramar wanted to keep the format they would have flipped Stars, not that any of this means much when you are pulling a 3 share on either station.

I think The Beat sounds ten times better than Hot 104.3. Something the Beat had over Hot is a better signal (although the coverage maps have KBTE going just a little bit past Guthrie, I have heard the Beat almost all the way to Dallas, until 104.9 in Pilot Point starts blowing out the Beat.), a wider playlist, and LESS talking! Hot had way too much talking during the mix shows.

But do The Beat have a mixshow anymore?

Not as many as Hot did, but I think they have one Saturday night.

If Hot would of stayed on the 97.3 frequency when it was no longer a rimshot station, I wonder if it would have done better.

I think putting Double T on 104.3 really puts the station at a huge disadvantage. 1340 may not have a big signal, but 104.3 does not make it far East of Lubbock -- especially when the landscape starts to get hilly. The same goes for when you are traveling South. North of here, the 104.3 in Borger quickly blows out 104.3 in Brownfield, when you pass Plainview.

Perhaps it would have been better to put sports on 97.3 and move Stars back to 104.3. Or even put it on one of the biggest signals in Lubbock, 93.7.

Either way, I still have faith in this station and look forward to hearing an all sports on the FM dial. I just hope it isn't a big failure like 105.3 The Fan is in Dallas.

sports anywhere is a "Niche" format and will not do any better than "HOT", but they will gain TT sports and MALES, but not enough to be on top of the ratings, but more sellable than being the 3rd of 4th hip-hop station, so why not?
