Is KVMI 1270 Broadcasting in AM-Stereo?

Last time I checked, they were just your typical AM station broadcasting in standard mono, but tonight while looking up information on when it flipped to its current soft AC format, I saw something I didn't see before on the Wikipedia page. Under frequency, it reads "1270 kHz C-QUAM AM stereo."

Is this true? Can anyone within a comfortable range of their signal confirm?

If it is, this means the number of such stations in California has doubled (up to now, the only C-QUAM station is KVON 1440 in Napa).

I would check it out myself, but KXBX 1270, which is a local now since I moved up north, effectively blocks me from receiving KVMI here, even on night power).

That change to Wikipedia was made 12 years ago. Even if it was accurate in 2012, it probably isn't now. All C-QUAM equipment is aged and not worth repairing or replacing. Especially now that KVMI has an FM translator.

Huh, OK.

Nevertheless, if anyone can confirm whether or not it's still true, I'd appreciate it.

I'll try poking around some C-QUAM capable SDRs to see if I can find out myself.

I will NEVER understand why anyone takes anything on Wikipedia as even possibly true. If they said it was broadcasting an all opera format in quadraphonic, would anyone here actually believe it?

I absolutely agree, which is why I posted here asking for a fact check.

I wouldn't. Quadraphonic of the sort that would be broadcast over AM (analog matrix) is even more obscure than Stereo AM, and faded into obscurity very early on. I think only a handful of test broadcasts were ever tried, if that.

I see your point.

I guess I should've phrased it a bit more carefully. I don't know if it's true or not, nor do I think so. My first reaction to that claim was doubt, along the lines of, "I don't think this is true, but it would be interesting to find out if it is."
