David stated in a post in another topic that the real story of the latest book is the climb of KYSR past KROQ in several demos. It now has a larger cume, as well. KROQ seems like the obvious station to be hurt by KYSR's ascent in the ratings. Has KCBS been affected though?
KYSR and KROQ seem to be largely aimed at the 18-34 crowd, while KCBS aims at 25-54. Part of KYSR's success, though, would have to be found in its music intensive focus, with a playlist made up largely of gold based alternative hits. I would estimate they are about 80% recurrents and gold vs. 20% current music.
I've noticed in the past few months, and this could just be my observation, that as KYSR has gone heavily in the direction of 90s alternative, both KROQ and KCBS have responded by adding similar music. So while Jack seems to be statistically solid, has or will their ratings be impacted by now competing against KYSR?
