Is Mega Returning to the Austin Airwaves?

Emmis took ownership of translator 102.7 (K274AX) at the begging of May and now has a CP for a power increase to 250 watts (up from 75), which should provide better coverage than even 99.7. http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/FMTV-service-area?x=FX1364166.html

In the application, Emmis says the translator will be used to rebroadcast 103.5. However, the entire translator's coverage is within the 70dBu of Bob FM. Could Emmis instead be planning to use the translator for dance-hits Mega 103.5 HD-2?

Well... maybe. Doesn't Emmis already broadcast a simulcast of Mega HD2 on K288FJ 105.5 FM in Bastrop?

Yeah they do have Mega on a repeater in Bastrop of all places.... That would be so awesome if they put it on 102.7!!!

They could have at least placed a repeater for Mega in somewhere like San Marcos, downtown Austin, or somewhere where there is a large night club crowd. Because, come on, people in Bastrop have NO rhythm..... no offense.

No one would be smart enough to pull off a MEGA format in Austin because it requires work... Too much for a corporation to handle... LONG LIVE BEAN COUNTER RADIO!!!!! LOL

Bastrop's 105.5 can't be in Austin because it would interfere with the 105.5 in Killeen. I can hear US 105 in North Austin.

I think once the upgrade is made, Mega will return back to the Austin airwaves.

Who says nobody is smart enough to bring it back? Its been on the air and streaming for over 2 years. Hopefully it comes back to FM, but just because its on a band you may not embrace doesn't mean it doesnt exist. I even heard it showed up in the Austin PPM ratings data today.
