Is Megyn out at Today?

https://pagesix.com/2018/11/20/megy...084.939393493.1541954918-269741609.1532021207

Here is an update

Megyn Kelly is close to finalizing a $30 million exit from NBC, sources confirm to Page Six.

The embattled anchor, who celebrated her 48th birthday Sunday, was dumped from her 9 a.m. slot on “Today” last month after questioning why it was racist to wear blackface for Halloween.

And as she prepares to sign her exit deal, the mom of three is already planning her return to TV, Page Six has learned.

Sources say NBC owner Comcast will pay Kelly around $30 million. She signed a $69 million deal when she joined the network after leaving Fox News in 2017.

A parachute is mentioned for Megyn Kelly from NBC.

She likely already drew about $14M for one year of work. Add that to the $30M she will be paid and NBC paid her $44M for just over a year of work. I'm surprised she took less. She could've taken the position that she was available to work and would continue to draw her pay and would work anything NBC assigned her to. I guess this way she'll be freed up to work elsewhere, but I'm skeptical that many offers would be forthcoming.

That is how it goes with that type. They buzz around like a pesky fly for a few years and then they are out. Then they surface in another place and don't last there either. Not all cases do they get such a generous package.

Megyn Kelly update

Megyn Kelly is free to take jobs at other news outlets upon leaving NBC News, according to a person familiar with the matter, a revelation that suggests exit talks between the star anchor and the NBCUniversal-owned division are moving toward a close.

Kelly is not expected to be bound by any non-compete restrictions, and could take a job at other news operations, this person said. NBCU and Kelly have been engaged in separation discussions for weeks, ever since NBC News canceled her morning program, “Megyn Kelly Today,” in the wake of on-screen remarks she made about wearing blackface makeup for Halloween.

A spokesman for Kelly declined to comment. NBCUniversal declined to make executives available for comment.

People familiar with the talks suggested that many issues between the two parties – money; non-disparagement; and other issues – are largely resolved. They acknowledged, however, that attorneys continue to wrangle over legal language and minor disparities.
