Is Mike Reeves getting divorced or something?

That's the only reason I can think of to explain why he's whoring himself out with those awful "Next Best Thing to Vegetables" spots on Genesis stations.

I mean, it's Mike Reeves, a Bay News 9 third-stringer. These ads might be more credible if Reginald Roundtree or Al Reuchel were doing them, of course Genesis is also responsible for producing those awful "Joel and Dustin" ads for RS Air, so maybe the entire production department is snake bit over there.

Reeves is, of course, also the morning drive show on 820.

AM radio is full of vitamin and supplement ads. What's curious about these is there's no identification of a company, other than "Next Best Thing...." I'm assuming that's not the company name. This "NBT..." has ads on Genesis websites too, so one assumes it's a corporate-wide deal.

Something tells me Reginald Roundtree and Al Ruechel's employers would take a dim view of their endorsing a commercial product. Reeves isn't a news guy.

The Genesis production department does seem to be snakebit, or at least their copy writer is. Here's something from a promo in which they attempt to position themselves as a source for breaking news:

"When news breaks, we're the place for the local market impact!"

What listener uses the phrase "local market" and why would they care about the "local market impact?" As opposed to the impact on their own lives? It's a classic example of "inside-out" thinking, where the station is wishing it could have an impact in the local market and trying to exhort people to listen because it would give them "impact", instead of telling listeners how the station benefits THEM. Listen because it's good for us, not because it's good for you.

Mike Reeves - big show

I can't believe the BIG SHOW is still happening !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought it would last a month, but it's still there. How can it be??

JB, have you heard what else is on 820 now? The daily optometrist show? Michelle B. Patty?

There's your answer.

RIP the Gold Show

The Gold Show was my fave. I loved that long droning horn that led off the intro. I see in my crystal ball TANTALK II.
