Is Missanelli gaining any ground on Eskin?

Question 1.

Is Missanelli making any ground on eskin in the ratings? According to Missanelli he is but I remain skeptical. I accessed the arbitron ratings and Wip overall had a pretty healthy advantage. Like 3.1 to 0.6. Didnt find info on hourly slots? Anyone ?

Question 2.

I heard a rumor that cataldi makes upwards of $1 M dollars a year,Rhea Hughes $250K? Is that even possible given their modest talents? That is really a sad commentary on Philadlephia sports fans if two no talent hacks can make that kind of cash year after year.

How long can Cataldi continue despite a horrendously flawed format and show. Is the end hopefully near for this egocentric whining a-hole with the anti-radio pipes?

You've gotta admit that at least they're local talents, in that they've been on Philadelphia radio for years now. The fact that Cataldi was born in New England is now moot, as he is well established. Rhea, I'm not sure what her story is, but she sounds like a Philly native.

Would you rather have syndicated folks on WIP? Czaban, anyone?

Id settle for anything besides Cataldi/Hughes. Cataldis voice/Hughes cackling is a daily assault on my eardrums. Cataldi is a 16 year old stuck in the body of a 60 year old.One of the creepiest people I've come across in my life, some of the things that come out of his mouth are simply appalling. Here we are on the cusp of a World Series and he would rather talk Eva Longorias panties rather than Evan Longoria. Did you ever notice its all about him? The fact that the Phils are participating in a World Series is a minor background event. He doesnt have the knowledge/range to talk Rays/World Series so he wastes everyones time talking about his personal issues e.g. scalping WS tickets , how the world series will effect his personal life.Me me me.

Horrendous show with virtually no professional structure to it. A couple of un-intellectual newspaper hacks/jocks with zero broadcasting training being led by a horrible producer whose idea of a good show is answering phone calls. Brutal.

Personally I would rather listen to a national broadcast like Mike +Mike but I cant get the station signal (WPEN) eventhough I live less than 10 miles from Bala Cynwd. That station is a joke. How do you expect to compete when you have lame signal?

I looked into your initial question...sorry to say Howard Eskin is still way out in front. Probably more a result of WIP's signal power and station heritage than it is of Howard's appeal...I looked at both men numbers and adult numbers in the money demos and back in May he had three times the audience that Mike and WPEN did...in September the same reports show that he now has twice the audience Mike has. So, I guess you could say Mike is gaining - but it is still a hell of a long way to go! Personally I like Mike Missanelli's show. It's more informative and less biased.

If Missanelli is to beat Eskin, it will take a LONG time. WIP is so established. Even if Missanelli does a better show, he'll still get killed in the ratings for quite a while. Also, the poor lead in he has on WPEN doesn't help. I've heard the start of his show many times, and there are times when it seems like he doesn't take his first call until 3:30. I imagine that most people turn off 950 after Jody and Harry, and they slowly come back after 3:00.

I don't know where everyone is getting there info from, but Missanelli is gaining ground on Eskin every month. I saw the latest ppm data and Mike is actually beating Eskin in 18 to 34 males and isn't far behind 25 to 54. Should be interesting to see what happens in the next few months..but every book he gains ground and now he is taking from Eskin's audience. PEN overall had there best ratings book too, albeit a 0.8...but their cume jumped big time in October. Let's see what happens next book.

That's impossible. Howard Eskin is the king of Philadelphia sports talk radio.

Thanks for the info Mike. Nice name. Nobody will suspect someone with metsfan as a username.
