Is Mix 96.1 evolving into a Rhythmic-leaning CHR?

Mix 96.1 has been spinning more rhythmic than non-rhythmic tracks as is the new norm for CHRs across the country. However, I can't help but to notice in the past week or two an increasingly aggressive phasing out of non-rhythmic songs. They usually played a mix in a bit of rock/country during their lunch and PM drive dayparts. That doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

Checking their spin reports, the first nonrhythmic song tops out at #28 with Taylor Swift's "Back To December."

PPM, market research, the competitive landscape, and current trends in Pop music all play a part in Mix 96.1's musical evolution.

I miss the days back when Mix 96.1 was a CHR with a Modern Rock/Hot AC tinge back in the early 2000s. I remember in the Summer of 2000, they were about the only CHR to place Lit "Miserable" in power rotation. They were a very unique station. Even though they played more modern rock/adult crossovers than most, they were still dance friendly playing tracks such as Daft Punk "One More Time", Madison Avenue "Don't Call Me Baby" and Darude "Sandstorm".

However, once that sound got more out of style circa 2003, it made sense why they phased out of that. As CHRles mentioned, it also makes sense why they are continuing to evolve.

People accuse CHRs of not being sensitive to what the listeners want, but by their very nature they give the people what they want. Tastes change over time and they change with them.

so do I, especially when they first started out back in 98. I guess all this Pop/Hip hop/Dance crossover stuff is what's in now so they have to reflect this.
