Is Nash FM94.1 debut imminent

Great Country was off the air for 2 Hours early this morning. Tuned in to both Nash FM 94.7 and Great Country at the same time and they were playing Kenny Chesney's "Somewhere with You" and while not playing the same songs all the time, the format clock seems identical, the songs I am catching together on both stations are not currents but Gold Titles, makes me wonder if a flip to Nash FM is imminent! A few of the songs were within 5 seconds of each other, interesting caught them both on iheartradio.

Probably Feb is when they will re brand this station. Is it just putting lipstick on a pig? 94.1 has a good signal but no matter the format it has had over the years, it never has been a player in Cincinnati Radio.

I think they did alright as "WINK" back late eighties, early nineties. This would've been a much better signal for "The Fan" to be on.

Wink did quite well... And had the longest jingles I've ever heard. Help me out here... "Less talk, more light rock with fewer interruptions so you can listen longer while you work... WINK 94.1". (Sung).

I remember that slogan and it was long to hear the jock at the time say it. It wouldn't work in today's PPM world for sure. Is it me or does the Nash name remind me of the 90's TV show? Maybe they can get Don Johnson for mornings Hahaa..

That was "Nash Bridges". Good show.

There have been jokes around the New York radio circle that the George Washington Bridge should be renamed the "Nash Bridges," and Mr. Johnson should do the dedication!

Another successful format on this frequency was 94.1 SAI-FM in the late 70s and early 80s. They were beating EBN with their tighter, more mainstream AOR format. Not sure why they bailed out of it and went country as WKXF, Kicks Country.

Keys2 the biggest question is why they didn't move the 1360 Top 40 format to 94.1? I'll never understand how you could just give up.

True. But they had already switched the FM to AOR and were starting to have some success with it, so perhaps they wanted to continue to develop that. And by then Q102 was dominating the Top 40 format so I guess they just decided it was time to close that chapter in 1360 WSAI's history. By the late 70s WSAI really wasn't very good anyway....a mere shadow of their glory days from the 60s and early 70s.

True, but why not start moving to the FM by 1974 or so? They had to see what was coming.

I don't disagree, but truthfully, I can't think of many successful Top 40 AMs from the 60s and 70s that made the transition to FM. The Big Ape in Jacksonville, WPRO Providence, WABB Mobile are a few that come to mind. But it just didn't seem to be the mindset at the time. There were certainly lots of AM-FM combos that were heritage Top 40s on AM but their FM counterparts were AOR, like WSAI and SAI-FM here. You bring up a legitimate point, MTHBSTR. Just not sure why more of them didn't do it back in the day.

I thought they did try Top40/Rock40 when they were in their DJ94 phase.

They did do Top 40 on their FM as WJDJ "94DJ" for a bit in the mid-70s, obviously though not as the WSAI brand.

I think they sounded best in there AOR days too, Wink did do well for awhile as well, quite frankly Ive always wondered why when Clear Channel owned them they didnt take a run at oldies or classic hits with WSAI calls, could they have beat GRR? Dont know but I would bet it would have done than the "How Many" formats since then? Where they are parked now, what a waste of legendary calls!
