Is Phoenix about to "KISS" Top 40 goodbye?

Thats the million dollar question there. Rumors are spreading in the Valley Of The Sun that Clear Channel might flip KZZP(104.7KISS-FM) to Spanish Oldies as "La Precosia". Stay tuned....

If this does happens, this would be the second Top 40 in nearly a week to flip, following KZZU/Spokane's shift to Adult Top 40 October 17th.

KZZP has been mostly Rhythmic CHR since it went Kiss back in April of 2001. Seems like Phoenix can't support a CHR/Pop.<P ID="signature">______________

No way. Phoenix is a big city with millions of people. They need some kind of CHR/Pop station, rhythmic leaning or not.

Not as much of rhythmic "leaning" but from 2001-2004 the actual reporting format was "Rhythmic CHR"

The only pop artists they're playing are Kelly Clarkson (Behind These Hazel Eyes -- 25 spins), Gavin DeGraw (Follow Through -- 9 spins), and D.H.T.(Listne To Your Heart -- 5 spins). If they took down those it would be rhythmic all the way. But to be perfectly honest, they need to pick one, rhythmic or pop. I would choose pop since the last time I checked there is already a rhytmic station in Phoenix.

Actually, Kiss is playing much more then that this week :) Up until a few weeks ago KZZP was playing all-Rhythmic, with the exception of DHT and Kelly Clarkson(which some Rhythmics do play). Then they started playing Green Day's "Wake Me Up When September Ends" three weeks ago, and now they're even giving spins to songs like Weezer "Beverly Hills", Ashlee Simpson "Boyfriend", Nickleback "Photograph", etc.

For the most part, 104-7 Kiss FM is playing one Rock hit per hour, much like Channel 955 Detroit. 102-7 KIIS FM Los Angeles is in an unusual position these days as unlike most CHR/Pop stations it leans Rhythmic by day, and plays more Rocks hits at night, when teens tune in the most.
