Is Radio Disney on the air in Sac?

I can't receive them any more in Pioneer. I'm assuming they're still on with non-directional power levels after the loss of their towers, but I could be wrong.

Picked 1470 up in El Dorado Hills yesterday afternoon. The signal sounded good, but what do I know, they could be on reduced power.

The real question is...does anyone even listen to this station?? In the year 2009, with kids having their own cell phones/ipods/etc. why would you expect them to tune into an AM station for music? It would even seem more appropriate to put Radio Disney on an HD-2 carrier of one of Sac's FMs. The AM outlet just seems unrealistic.

Sacramento market has Radio Disney, but no standards/nostalgia on the AM dial...go figure!!<end ranting>

Let me ask you a question.....Are you lonely? It amazes me that somebody with all the technology out there, would show any concern for an AM signal that's satellite delivered for children yet, on this day that your life will be ruined if you can't pick up a 10 watt signal. Especially in a pretty beautiful area way out in the Sierrra....just enjoy the air, the snow, the mountains, scenery,etc...and KILL YOUR AM RADIO! UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

HA!! I'm getting a good belly laugh. Thanks, Starbucks. No, this actually developed out of an attempt to receive the baseball playoffs, while a few of us were grumbling about how nobody was carrying it on radio. We were speculating on who could carry it but wasn't. Believe me - I'm enjoying my life in the mountains.

In Dave's defense, there are many long distance radio and TV hobbyists. They are less concerned with content, more concerned with call letters. Many now try to see what they can get on HDTV. It may not be my thing, but who am I to bang on their hobby. I have many Dx'ers that listen to my radio show.

I too have been a bit frustrated during the playoffs. I don't watch or listen to baseball much during the regular season. I would like to listen to ESPN radio (1320AM?), but it comes and goes in the Sierra Foothills.

1) I heard 1470 KXOA, er, KIID, loud and clear in West Sacto this morning and Carmichael tonight...
2) Curious: If you can't hear 1320 KCTC doing the baseball playoffs, does 950 KAHI carry it?

BTW, before KNBR 680 started carrying the playoffs for Bay Area listeners, its sister 1050 KTCT
(which bills itself as KNBR 1050) was carrying the playoffs, but it's tedious in the North Bay to
tune into the very-directional 1050 at night, and 1320 KCTC is too far to hear at all thanks
to 1320 in Salt Lake City. I feel your pain...

Good question! I will have to scan around next time it fades out. As a one time sports director/PBP guy, ESPN provides pretty good coverage.
