Is Real Oldies 1600 Running At 50000 WATTS?

Within its local contour, it increases "coverage" exactly 10 miles. For a four-fold increase in power, non-directional -- that's a pretty good expense, especially for 1600. If it was at mid-band or lower, that would make quite a difference.

Daytimer and short tower -- may not even be tall enough to light. Outter .5mv and beyond not very usable.

5mV/m isn't enough these days given interference from wi-fi and so many other high frequency devices. 50kW even way up at 1600kHz will help - if only 1550 could go that high, can it? 1550 has to protect Tucson so I would guess probably not. Fortunately the noise floor is low at 1550 and 1600.

Just for the record, I was able to pick up KRKE two weeks ago (under a talk station) around 8:15pm in Mesa AZ on a Sony Jambox. Wasnt very listenable but thats a damn good skip for 175 watts. ;D

That's great, I'll try that here (near phoenix, Arizona), too. with 50kW sign=on in the mornings, perhaps KRKE could be heard at sunrise. I'll try.

I WISH I had recorded it on a cassette.. the signal was fading in and out fast like an X-band station. I checked the web stream and yep, it was the same songs playing.

I've been trying to DX KRKE here in East Texas early in the morning, but theres too much on 1600 here, mostly St Louis. Too bad KRKE couldn't get a little more power for nights. With that skip, I wonder how 175w covers nights in Albuquerque?

175W is up from whatever it used to be before the CP('s). When did Don Davis increase daytime and nightime power?

Davis' 1550 also went up, both day and night.

50 kw builds perceived stick value when you sell it.
It also makes PNM very happy.
