Is Rev Jarret Maupin good for ratings?

It has gotten to the point where whenver I hear a local radio stations giving airtime to this race- baiter (and convicted felon) I flip the dial. He is nothing but a media hound & a wannabe Jesse Jr.

If he isn't going off on the Martin-Zimmerman case, he is now over in Glendale screaming about the Coyotes deal in order to get airtime & his picture in the paper/internet.

I was told that these stations put this guy on to increase their ratings..... Is this true?
I can't stand this troublemaker, I must flip the dial, and I have talked to many others who feel the same way. But maybe we are in the minority?

Is this guy really an attraction to radio listeners?

Maupin is like Viagra for the "Get Off My Lawn" listeners - gets you up and keeps you there for several hours

He's right about the money Glendale has wasted on millionaires who play sports. But instead of asking the AG to look into the deal, the Rev ought to ask the former Mayor if she'd like to foot some of the bill. (sfx-fake studio audience: clap, clap, clap, clap)

By "these stations," could you be more specific? I don't listen to KFYI, and KTAR (what I can hear before I get my fill of getting talked down like I'm two millimeters tall) has very few guests anymore that aren't regularly scheduled - it would interfere with their soapbox format.

Yes, I'm referring to the local talk radio stations (I think there are only 2: KFYI & KTAR FM)
Plus he's constantly shown in valley newspapers.
He loves all the free publicity & airtime the stations give him.

..it's pathetic He is a very hateful man. ( a sad excuse for a Rev.)

Radiowizard, I take it you must not follow news in Phoenix or listen to local talk radio.

Well... here are the choices. White men and women yacking like experts about the black experience with law enforcement. That includes everyone's favorite, Jay Lawrence. Then on the AM side, there's nothing but white OLD men race baiting and fanning the flames of hatred. Aside from the UFO all night extravaganza, THERE'S NOT MUCH TO HEAR... here. Sorry, don't know the Rev. and I'm probably not missing much. Now back to our regularly scheduled program.

Local Radio really needs a major facelift. Ktarp oughta let some people talk... other than the seriously misinformed hosts.

Who's the Old white men (besides Barry & Rush?)

On the FM, KTAR's staff consists of young/mid aged white "know it all" men that are single & have no kids, but can tell you everything you need to know in life.

I really have to agree with this. How about a radio host that objectively bring up issues and let the people talk about it -- without coming down on a particular side? We've become a nation of spoonfed idiots who can't think for themselves. It's easy to be against illegal immigration -- until you find out that your neighbor Jose (a hard worker, who looks out for your house when you're away, and whose wife bakes those great cakes) is undocumented. I've never heard that type of discussion on talk radio.

I don't listen to hate radio but I do read the news and I'd never heard of him either. Perhaps just as well.
