Saw this post from Pollack Media recently:
Legendary rock radio stations are falling by the wayside. In the last three months, major market stations like KSJO, KLOL, WHFS, and this week WZTA have all changed formats. According to the New York Daily News, rock is “wheezing.”

I found this quote to be intriguing, however, "The best rock format in the fall was Classic Rock, and even that format saw 47% of its stations drop in the ratings. Classic Rock and classic hits had their troubles, but it’s a far cry from the devastation seen at contemporary rock formats..."
I work for a Classic Hits station which seems to have a good format for the market. I have also been studying a Classic Hits station in the Tampa Bay (FL) market (http://1073theeagle.com/) which is a Cox station. Out of the three Classic Rock stations in that area, The Eagle has the best numbers.
Does anyone see Classic Hits becoming a trend over Classic Rock?<P ID="signature">______________
