Is Russ...

Sweet, another Russ post. It has been a while. Chritams is complete now

Complete indeed! Chritams has ALWAYS been one of my favorite times of the year. I didn't think anyone else knew about it!

Gay? Just checking to see if this was a rhetorical question being asked of the forum...

Tre?

I still think his show sucks, that's why I don't listen to The Eagle anymore.

The show really is lazy and sad. I can't listen to The Eagle until they wrap at 10. I try, I honestly do, I want to listen. I want to get into it, I want to be a RMS fan badly (bc my car doesn't have Sirius, and I cannot get Stern), but Russ is bad. He just isn't talented, he's not that funny, his staff is weak. The Russ I'm hearing would be a good co-host on a show, and good for some quick whit punchy lines. His gig is tired, the one trick pony has rode the kids, the grandkids, the great grandkids and now has bad feet and teeth.

It's really sad to listen to actually. Am I alone with this observation, or do I just have poor taste and out of touch with what people want to hear?

Couldn't agree more Metro. He is living on past glory and is a shadow of his former self. I think Jagger is more entertaining than Russ and what does that say. Would love to see how he stacks up against the others in the morning.

For Russ to be listenable, what should he do/say more of? I hear a lot of what he does/says that people don't like, but when it comes to him being "better" people usually say say the "old Russ.". Out of curiosity, What did old Russ do or say that makes him better than current Russ?

Russ, is that you? Trying to bring up the ratings with what people recommend?

No, it's someone who is kinda tired of always seeing the same post of "Old Russ was better, now he's boring/lazy/etc", without actually having something to support or compare it to.

This is a mesage board, elaborate and engage in a discussion...otherwise this place becomes just a bitch and complain board.

It's a combination of things really. The reason I can't listen to it is Trey. Sure back when they fake tortured him it was okay but that is all he is good for. Now its just boring current event talk around even more boring audio clips of fox news

it just sucks.

He can't really do any bits because we all know they are fake. Before we had our suspicions but now we know they are fake.

It won't get better as long as Trey is there and it looks like he has brown nosed himself a permanent spot.

Throw an on-air fit in there every once and a while would ya?
Well no that wouldn't work because we know it's fake.

The dudes right, the show is lazy and sad

He still does okay Men 25-54, but he's nowhere near being the old Russ.

To me, the problem is that the show is about Russ. Where news stations are about the news, and sports stations are about sports and scores, The RMS is (naturally) about Russ. But if you're not interested in Russ, you have no reason to tune in. And before the curtain was pulled back, when you thought the were really doing some crazy-a**ed stuff, that aspect might have been enough to pull you in. A 'what are they going to do next' vibe. Now it's boring. A bunch of middle aged white guys sitting around talking. Big deal.

The only other show that is really about someone is Kraddick. And Kidd has the advantage of having the estrogen audience. Women are much more likely to care about what Kidd thinks about this, or how Kelly is dealing with this or that.

All the RMS show has left is what does Russ think of this news story, or what does Russ think of that news story. And people have moved on. I was talking to someone the other day that didn't even know Russ was back on the air. He was a Live 105.3 P1. Turned into a Fan p-1 because he just never changed the dial, and got used to Jagger and the rest of that ever evolving cast.

I think he's still going to be a factor. But Dunham and Miller are getting 10 shares in AM drive with Men 25-54. He''ll hurt Bo and Jim, or Jagger, but he's never going to be where he was 5-6 years ago where he was battling teh Hardline for top PM drive show...

Re: Is Russ...old and tired....yes

and the reason you say "the old Russ" was better than the new old Russ is because 5 years ago, there was far less streaming. Far less access to the talented personalities Russ has been (no pun intended) ripping off. You want examples, Russ pulled his Police Support charity right out of the Bubba The Love Sponge playbook.... without changing a thing. Russ's show is built on the same profile that Howard Stern's show is built on. When Russ took a bit from Paul and Young Ron in Miami, nobody knew...but now you do.

What you're hearing with Russ' show is evolution. His show has had to change as his staff has had to change. Eddie used to write the games, What did I tell you, could the answer be "c", yadda yadda. As staff comes and goes so does some of the fringe elements. It's the RMS so it's obviously gotta be about Russ. Dont like it, dont listen. It's really as simple as that.
