IS SEACREST HEADED TO NBC'S "TODAY" ?

So, If Seacrest takes over for Matt Lauer on "The Today Show", Who's gonna replace him on "Idol"? Seacrest can't do everything around here.

Even though his first name is in the address link above, I must bring to the attention of others that this discussion is about Ryan Seacrest, the host of "American Idol".

It's called cloning. (I hear Seacrest partially funded that Dolly the Sheep project. ::) )

The real question should be, who's going to replace him on morning drive on KIIS in LA? And his syndicated radio show as well

I had him penciled in to replace Regis with Kelly...

Maybe the host of the X-factor can take over Seacrests place. But on the other hand Idol is going to be killed off at some point because the audience will follow Cowell and the X-factor crew very closely.

It also seems odd that NBC would be chatting about "Idol" seen on another network.
Actually the today show and jay leno have had american idol castoffs on many times they've even performed on today it's called leeching off the success of another network for ratings because things aren't going well for you.

Thanks for clearing that up, Mario. I just KNEW that this just HAD to be about his long-lost brother, Rufus Seacrest. Now that you have cleared that up for us, I will sleep better tonight! ;D

Guessing on a TV forum, people don't need that "help."

Well maybe Seacrest sees some writing on the wall for the 11th season of Idol. Will it be the end now that former Idol judges Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul are now at the X-Factor and the show has a growing fanbase.

America is a Great Country! where someone with NO-EXPERIENCE can end up winning an election and becomming President, and Ryan Seacrest with NO-TALENT can become a Millionaire.

To be fair, Dick Clark was accused of the same thing. So have Gary Colliins, John Davidson and a host of other "bland" "inoffensive" guys.

Heck George Burns became rich off of "I sponge off of Gracie, because I have no talent jokes" (though this wasn't true) :)

Bill Goodwin) What are you doing George

George) My taxes and it'd be a lot easier if Gracie wasn't "helping" me

Bill) Yeah you'd have no income

Maybe no one will take over his nationally-syndicated show and Clear Channel will go back to letting their stations do live and local during his time slot. I'm not holding my breath for that one, though.

There you go, much better...

Even in the infotainment world we live in and even in the boneheaded world of network tv executives especially at NBC, I don't think they would turn over the Today show to an airhead like Ryan Seacrest.

I could see him being an entertainment or West Coast correspondent, but not one of the main hosts. Despite the cooking, fashion and celebrity segments, you still have to be able to credibly interview serious political guests. Considering Today is one of NBC's few bright spots, I can't imagine they would take that kind of risk.

I'm starting to think that he is just using this story as a bargaining chip to get one of his
other projects to show him the monty um money.
