Is something wrong with my refrigerator?

I've heard this buzzing on my radio off and on for a week. At first my refrigerator was running during the buzzing. But on one occasion the buzzing started before the refrigerator did. Then it stopped before the refrigerator did.

Saturday it was really bad. I made it stop for about a second by stepping in one particular location on the kitchen floor, but of course I couldn't stay there. I also made it stop by putting my orange juice back on the shelf. ???

The radio is plugged into an outlet where two other radios are plugged in, along with a tape recorder. I made sure the adapter the three radios were plugged into was plugged all the way in. I tried to straighten out the cord of the radio with the buzzing (though two of the radios were having this problem one day; the other has a broken switch for changing from AM to FM and is always on FM now). I also tried to get the three cords to stop touching each other to the extent it was possible. That also helped, briefly.

And I checked the plug for the refrigerator. It wasn't actually plugged all the way in. And the cord was touching the floor, which is not normally a problem but when it was first installed (or maybe later) it was taped to the back of the refrigerator so it wouldn't touch the floor. This is important if the water at the bottom of the refrigerator is spilling out when I get cabbage out or something, which is not happening now.

For whatever reason, I didn't have a problem today.

I think you have a poorly grounded electrical conduit where a pipe is jointed or meets a junction box.
If you can see the box under the kitchen, tighten the grounding bond screws at the ends of the conduit.
Even when the fridge is "off" there is some current draw on the defrost timer motor.

Thanks for bringing up the age of your refrigerator. Made me think, mine is now 27 years old. Montgomery Ward made by Admiral,.

Our main refrigerator is a 1950's GE, still going strong.
Our beer fridge is a 1927 GE "monitor top" with the round coils on top, still going strong.

We can afford new fridges, I just like durable goods that daily prove the over-engineering the US once enjoyed.

I have 5 of the monitor tops and plan to bring 2 or 3 more back into service with modern refrigerant and sell them.

If anyone has an interest in one, let me know, I'll tag one with your name and one of these days we'll figure out a fair price.
