Is Star 94 Holding Tripp to His Non-Compete

I'm a Tripp West fan so I was happy to hear him on The Bull a few weekends ago. Since then, I was unable to find him on the station.

I heard a rumor last week that he was taken off because Star 94 is holding him to his non-compete.

I can see both sides of this. He did sign the non-compete, and good companies enforce the same rules for everyone; it's just good business. On the other hand, doing weekends on a country station would not seem to hurt Star at all; and Tripp needs a job as well as a way to keep up his skills until he gets a full-time gig.

Maybe Star is thinking Tripp could slide into a full-time slot, and they would have let the fox into the hen house. But the likelihood of a full-time shift at The Bull opening any time soon seems unlikely.

Anyone remember when Steve and Vikki started doing promos for B98.5 last year while under noncompete from Star...there was a lawsuit (which was quickly settled). I suspect Tripp doesn't want a repeat of that...with him on the wrong end of things.

Actually, I don't think it has to do w/his non-compete. I think he's still on contract through November. Any guesses on how much money Star has wasted paying out contracts to employees they let go? I guess they bill enough to make up the difference. Must be nice to have that much money to play with!

Rodney said on Access Atlanta last year that Tripp had a choice to stay until his contract ended or find another job if he wanted too. The judge threw out the Steve and Vicki lawsuit.
