Is Sunny 93.9 next?

Amid all the talk about WDUR/WTSB, WZTK, etc. I was looking on Bob the Blade's blog (see link in "Blade out at WRDU" thread), and in it Blade says that Sunny 93.9's afternoon-drive guy has moved to 100.7, leaving only Dave Kent (mornings) as the last surviving jock on Sunny. Any further word on Sunny's fate?

New imaging was produced in house last week. No changes after the holidays. Sunny will return to a softer blend and no Whoopi. Christmas stunt will not help sales because the whole world knows its just a stunt so they are really starting from scratch in January. Sigh.

For the benefit oif Magic 94.1 listeners, I hope at least a new tower location is planned.

...was just down at the 1500 ft tower near Apex where G105 and Sunny has Cp's to relocate to....

and nothing yet.

IMHO - I would rather G stay where it's at out near Chapel Hill...they get quite a lot of G'Boro listeners.

Like WWGL used to.. It belongs to GOD..Thank you Charles H.!

Doubtful that G would move. They already clobber 105.1 in Havelock and any move closer and I think the NextMedia people would throw a fit.

At the time WGBT flipped from The Beat to La Preciosa, they directed their G'boro listeners to G105. With the signal downgrade--- they're supposed to downgrade to 78,000 watts instead of 100,000 watts--- would they still reach G'boro?
As for Sunny, even though they're still hailing from Burlington--- no move to Cary yet, which is why Majic 94.1 doesn't come in in Alamance--- for some reason I get static from time to time. They didn't downgrade their signal, did they?

Is Sunny 93.9 dying?

I am listening to Sunny 93.9 online, and I just heard a teaser--- and the voice sounded eerily like Whoopi's--- announcing a new morning show coming to "93.9"--- they didn't say Sunny or any other name, just "93.9"--- from 5AM-9AM, beginning after Christmas. Is Whoopi coming to Raleigh after Christmas, and what format will be on 93.9 then?

I bet they just "tweak" the Sunny format, maybe change the handle or somthing, and bring in Whoopi. CC loves to bring in synd. morning shows that may or may not get numbers. (*cough*John Boy & Billy*cough*)

I personally think the new format on 93.9 if they actually change they should bring back the rockstation they had on 11 years ago but with an edgier side so it can compete with curtis medias 96rock cause that station has sucked for about 6 years now

Its a done deal folks Sunny 93.9 will be no more after the 25th Its flipping to a rhythmic station with whoopi in the morning my bets are the rising MoVin format thats plagueing the country right now so were just gonna have to wait till the 26th and see what it is but i know for a fact its changing to rhythmic top 40 after christmas

Nothing? No transmitter, no antenna, no line? Who does that tower belong to?

Sinclair Broascast Group owns the transmitter site/tower which is very tall. they broadcast at 5 MW-ERP. (this used to be WB22 but changed in Sept. to the CW 22) the tower is right off ten-ten rd in apex. and no, from what i could tell; there weren't any signs of adding additional antenna's to the tower. the same day, which now has been about a month ago, i drove over to the WRSN, WDCG and WUNC-TV/FM towers on the other side of the Triangle. everything is the same as it was earlier this year.
