Is Sunny changing again?

I was checking them out today, and they're sounding more and more like a light oldies station ala 93.3 in Columbus or Sunny in Philly. I still hear an occasional Sinatra or Dean Martin cut or something of that nature, but it's mostly '60's to '80's soft oldies.Oh, and BTW, all the CC channels are running a Pet Care RX commercial once an hour. AAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!

Mix was already running an Office Depot commercial. Is that channel up to two ads an hour now?

I for one DON'T LIKE the change and flipped back to Frank's Place. We have enough stations playing soft oldies. CC was in the right direction in my opinion then decided to screw it up.

I certainly hope this isn't the permanent format, but they are running sweeprs now, which makes me think it is. While I'm not much of a beautiful music/easy listening fan, that at least was something that wasn't readily available on commercial terrestrial radio. To me, it sounds very similar to Movin' Snoozy over on Sirius. If CC actually expects people to listen to these channels, then they had better do something that isn't already available on terrestrial or satellite radio.

You've got to figure that XM's in-house channels that program this kind of music -- The Blend and The Heart -- have significant listenership. After all, not all XM subscribers are in search of fringe genres; some just want to hear their favorite mainstream music without all the interruptions of FM. This new Sunny gives those listeners a third option when they don't care for the song that's playing on Heart or Blend at the moment. If CC's going to be putting a limited amount of advertising on its XM music channels, I would think mainstream-oriented formats would be the most likely to show up in XM's periodic listener preference surveys and, thus, the easiest ones to sell to advertisers.

im opposite, I chose XM hoping that there would be more variety and would veer away from mainstream in some of their channels, or get deeper in AC and hear songs I havent' heard in a long time or didn't know existed.

I'd agree with you that not everyone is getting XM for niche formats such as reggae, blees, etc, but I think my point still stands. The type of music Sunny is playing is already well represented on XM without commercials. As you said, people are getting XM for their favorite music without the interruptions of FM. Well, CC seems to be adding more and more commercials to their channels. Why would anyone want to sit through the commercials when they can hear the same music on another channel without commercials? It would be just like FM. As soon as you hear a commercial, you flip to another channel. Why not at least provide something, mainstream or otherwise, that isn't already well represented on XM?

I had Sunny blocked from my XM radio (along with Nashville!, KISS, MIX and WSIX) due to the fact that Clear Channel was adding commercials to their music channels. I don't miss them at all. I also figured that the formats would change, and it seems that I was correct.

But for those who loved the original Sunny, it's still on XM! It's XM 78, Escape. It seems to be the same as Sunny was a few months ago.

how can you block CC stations?

You can block any channel you wish. However, I believe you have to call customer service unless you want to block all XL channels, which you can, or at least could, do online.

I love a lot of the music channels XM has to offer whether they're programmed by Clear Channel or
not! I love both the Nashville! and the WSIX channels for my Country also the KISS-XM for the CHR/Pop
hits!!!!! I have three suggestions for XM. 1. I think they should add either KYLD in San Francisco OR XL106.7
in Orlando and 2. I think KISS-XM should hire live Air-Talent, 3. Air American Top 40 with Ryan Seacrest on the KISS channel every weekend! THANKS!

Sunny was number 1 in my presets before May.Now Escape is number 1.They play the music Sunny use to play beautiful.
