Is that a MOYL sat reciever in that box?

What station(s) in Tampa Bay got a nice gift from the UPS man last week..?The delivery guy said it "fell" out of the truck, and he swore he heard TONY BENNETT say "ouch..watch it"

Just hope it didn't fall and break a hip. I'm sure the oldsters of Tampa Bay will be excited. Of course, we'll all have to help them set their radio to the new frequency.

BULLETIN! IT'S WTAN!

WTAN-1340 and, so it says, WZHR-1400 have gone Music of Your Life.Of course, all the local breaks are filled with promos for brokered shows on Tan Talk. Typical Wagenvoordformat launch. :DIf he follows the pattern of the old WGUL, weekends and off-hours may still be brokered. But that would leave a lot of hosts looking for new stations, especially those who don't fit the format, like all those growling shows about wrestling. Where do they go? Can they afford anything else in this market?

Well now will this FINALLY give some credibility to those two stations? This type of change needed to be done swiftly, so there will certainly be some of the old promos etc..but I applaud the Wagenvoords for making the decision to commit to this format...and I'll wager the brokered show lineup will certainly be moved about to free up MOYL hours I'll bet Frank F. has some interesting methods to selling this format in Tampa Bay..furthermore it will most certainly increase the overall value of these stations for future sale huh? What else would YOU do with two ClassIV stations? How much do you figure Salem could ask for 860 these days? "oldsters" are still conditioned to listening to music on AM..and they are the only ones who had nowhere else to go on AM..Best of all they are about the only ones who still have available money to buy things..You better believe that Dave and Lola would welcome that 4.0 in the future..even a 2.0 or a 1.5 is better than NOTHING...plus a well designed MOYL station can and does make a LOT of money in a lot of markets. Also I am sure MOYL is thrilled to have an affiliate in Tampa Bay again.

Right you are, Jeff! Although, in my opinion, MOYL mixes in too much novelty stuff and at times has some train wrecks, this will certainly attract the GUL/LVU listeners who are very loyal. Forget about romancing the agencies. The 30 year olds there don't understand that people 55 and over have a ton of money and buy things! Regardless, they will carve out a niche. We made a nice living at LVU and Mr. Arcocci and friends did extremely well at GUL.

Now if we can get someone in Bradenton or Sarasota to do it too.... 1490?? Cant figure out what kind of format they have now... Dolla a holla mostly. or rent by the hour.... Or 1220 in Sarasota?? 1070 in Punta Gorda and 1320 in Venice dont put a good enuf signal in Bradenton or north Sarasota...

First, pardon my typo. Mr. Marcocci it should read. A brilliant thing for them to do is to hire either Les Forester or Denny Bateman.

And the most brilliant thing to do is hire.....ME! (and have Laurence do all the imaging)

Shortly after 8 pm...

At 8:05, WTAN is into a (brokered) foreign language show. You can get the Wagi's out of brokered, but you can't get brokered out of the Wagi's.At least the WGUL brokered shows fit the demo -- charlatans, er I mean businessmen, trying to sellhealth and financial products to seniors. Was this a case of some swarthy time broker threatening to punch the crud out of the board op if his show didn't run?

Or... a nifty contract that hasn't expired yet? Dave and Lola may have their hands tied by obligations. It's a shame that Tan's signal is pretty weak in southern Pinellas. I was hoping one of the Tampa Spanish stations would be the MOYL.

Filler change not format change

According to WTAN's website, Music of Your Life is only 87 1/2 hours per week, or just over half the station's programming. About a third of that is overnight hours.1340 didn't change its format. It changed its filler material. The format is still "brokered."

Smedge you have got to give them a chance..Did they burn you or something? Dave and Lola are "different" operators alright..but they too have been burned by some of these whackos..They HAD to start running some of the MOYL programming right away or they might have lost the deal. You willl not be hearing that cruddy CNN Radio stuff anymore..and there needs to be some breathing room to move that brokered stuff, and get it replaced with spots to keep the lights on. Again at least they are trying somtething to keep the medium ip and running. Many operators of AM stations are just shutting them off, and walking away. My God man, give them a break...!Best bet for MOYL in Sarasota Bradenton..how about 1320 or 1220..or both..bet they could be had cheaply.
