Is the buzz moving down the dial?

People are looking pretty glum over at Clear Channel Atlanta. Rumor has it that some formats are shiftings.
105.3 the Buzz is heading back to 96.7. CC is known for taking a real winner and flushing it down the toliet.
What about 105.3 format? Speculation states Sports/Talk.

Deadman knows all it seems. dave's finished, sean demery returns. 1 out of 2 ain't bad. Or, is that 2 fer 2? This one? I always thought it was a waste to simulcast Viva on it and they havent reaped any discernible ratings bump from that move. So why not move the Buzz? Here's hoping they go harder and lose Weezer. And keep Whip and Ally

Are you sure it's 96.7 and not 96.1? Maybe that explains Larry & Eric's absence. WGST moves to 105.3, 640 is put out of its misery and Bloomquist is told to leave the Building of Death. Wishful thinking on the last one......

Would the Buzz format work on 96.1 with The Regular Guys and The Braves? ??? ??? ???

Actually 0 for 2. Deadman was the one who told us it wouldn't be Sean 'cause he has trouble sleeping. Sean is here and so is Dave. Not a hall of fame batting average, but I appreciate the effort!

I do believe that Dave FM's days are likely quite numbered. So he probably won't get that one wrong. Although, I personally enjoy the station for the most part.

As for The Buzz and 96rock...
I highly doubt the Buzz will return to 96.7. They've been there, done that. If the decesion to move them to 105.3 had not been made, they were likely going to get rid of it on 96.7 anyways. But like mentioned...who knows with Clear Channel? What to do with 96.7? Who knows?

I think the Buzz will either remain at 105.3, move to/mesh with 96.1, or go away all together. I doubt CC is going to blow it up at the moment. It's really starting to move on up in the ratings. I have often wondered if CC may combine 96rock and The Buzz (although in many ways that would just return things to how they were pre-2004).

Some reasoning:
96rock:
- why have they still not received a new program director?
- last year when the Braves got done, they sort of refreshed the station. They changed the imaging and added new songs to the playlist. They really made a big deal out of the music. This year, the imaging is still loaded with Braves references (it should be limited at this point) and the playlist hasn't been changed too much. However, as of this week, they have added some 90's grunge (Nirvana, Soundarden, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, STP) throughout dayparts beyond overnights.

The Buzz:
- it seems a little stange that they only have 4 jocks right now. They lost 5. It seems like they would have hired at least one or two new people by now.

Probably not too much to look into, but CC can't possibly stick with 2 rock stations for that many years.

I know a few people who have recently applied for DJ jobs on The Buzz and were told that 'things were on hold'. Not sure if that really means anything though.

So another person at CC corrected me and I was wrong about the Buzz. The completely slaughtered the competiton in the summer book.

Wrong about them going back to 96.7 or upgrading to 96.1? Yeah, they're doing too good to go back to 96.7, but an upgrade to 96.1 doesn't seem too far fetched. I think everything will stay how it is for now, but on down the line I think it's a possible scenario. Either taking over 96.1 or meshing with it.

the buzz at 96.1 is another rumor over at the building of death...

96 Rock is dead. The River has them by the nuts. Moving the Buzz to 96.1 sounds logical, given the probable demise of 99X.

I wonder if this happens, what will happen to the Braves. Do they stay on a new 96.1, or go to 94.9? (96 Rock has more capatable demos for baseball. 94.9 is more female, and the Buzz is 18-34 male).

If Viva continus to slide They could be moving back to 105.3. The Buzz to 96.1 and the Regular Guys to 105.7 as part of some re-incarnated GST simulcast or FM Talk.

I wouldn't be surprised if Lite 94.9 got flipped too, just for the hell of it!
