Is the Coyote Next?

Just read that CBS flipped Dallas smooth jazz station Oasis to Movin FM. Is Coyote next for a flip? Seems like Smooth Jazz is a dieing format.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don't let it be Cheap Channel that brings the Movin' format to this market. They have no clue how to execute this format; their stations in Vegas and Philly are trainwrecks! The playlists feature too many Jammin' Oldies from the 60's and 70's and too many slow AC currents. The Movin' stations owned by Bonneville, Emmis, Sandusky, and Sinclair in various markets sound SO MUCH better....they are much more focused on 90's hits.

With such a low 12+ number (and I imagine other demos as well), what's taking Star so long to flip?

if only the kyot would have tried nu jazz, acid jazz, trip-hop, drum & bass, bossa nova, tropical, trance, ambient, chill, deep funky house...

Do you seriously think that such a format would deliver better A25-54 numbers than what they currently have?

I personally don't care for the Coyote's format. It's "Easy Listening" for the 21st century and usually is as boring as watching rocks erode.

But I glanced at the summer Trends the other day, and with the usual caveats about the relative worth of 12+ numbers and trend numbers in the summer no less, the Coyote does very well. And since they have almost no real overhead other than paying for some voice tracking and maybe one local guy, their profit margib must be pretty significant. In other words, unless I'm gravely mistaken, KYOT should be a huge cash cow for CC.

Personally, I would put KFYI on 95.5 and 550 (as I've said before) and move the Coyote to 96.9 or 104.7. Actually, Kiss looks like the weaker sister among the CC FMs.

The CC Smooth Jazz in Philly had good 25-54 numbers but was still a tough sell. Does anybody know how KYOT is billing?
