iBiquity has not released technical details about HDC.

However, this we know, from which you are free to draw your own inferences: In 2003, at about the time that HDC was introduced, iBiquity let go the PAC development team, headed by Deepen Sinha. This team subsequently created their own company, ATC Labs. http://www.atc-labs.com/news2.html According to the company's website, "It also provides product upgrade services to Sirius Satellite Radio for its PAC4 codec." http://www.atc-labs.com/news1.html HD Radio is not mentioned. http://www.atc-labs.com/clients.html

And remember the 1st codec for HD-AM? It was puking horrible bad. The revised codec for AM actually is acceptable on a local AM with MUSIC, but voice is grating. Strange, playing music with the HD-AM codec is better than the brutal ear-burning from talkshows and cellcalls trying to go thru the HD-codec for voice. Either way, 10KHz analog AM stereo CQuam still sounds better and more natural in my book. Wonder if that will be compatible with the new 10KHz HD - could you run both simultaneously?
