Is The Shutdown Keeping WWIQ Alive?

The federal government is closed for business. That includes the FCC. As long as the FCC is closed, they can't complete the license transfer for 106.9 FM, Camden. So, Rush stays alive in Philly. Philly: The last major market to clear Rush. About to be the first to dump him.

Notice the thread on the news-talk board: WBAP (Cumulus) drops its AM/FM simulcast. It didn't help the ratings. Put angry geezer radio on FM and money demos still won't listen. And major advertisers still won't buy. Old wine in new skins.

FredLeonard starts yet ANOTHER thread where he's champing at the bit for the demise of Rush Limbaugh in Philly. Film at 11.

No political agenda here - no sir, no way...

Just another "concerned listener", no doubt...

Wow... you and Josh sure have an unceasing axe to grind with this station and these hosts. Its non-stop bashing, I am an old geezer and I happen like, respect and believe this group. As I said before, turn your anger and hatred to the real demon on the dial, WURD. You have nothing to write, when I mention WURD and their venom spewing amatures...why is this???

Hard to tell whether the shutdown is keeping IQ alive because we don't know (at least I haven't seen it from a reliable source) what the sales completion date was supposed to be.
If the sale would have closed in the first half of October, the answer would seem to be yes. If the sale wasn't to be completed until later in calendar year 2013, the answer is no ... at least for now until we see how long the shutdown will last.
Trying to stay out of the political part of this discussion, but it is interesting how some AM/FM talk simulcasts have broken up lately, with the format remaining on AM. So: To what can we attribute the lack of success of these talk formats on FM? As I posted over on the News/Talk board in a thread about a similar topic, we have, right in Philadelphia, successful talk-based stations on FM: the two sports talkers, WHYY, and across the river, New Jersey 101.5. So: What did they do right and what did IQ do wrong?

Yes, it's safe to say that the FCC will not process the sale until the Gov't reopens.

Also, I hear both Rush & Hannity will return to WPHT. You heard it here first.

if that's the case, they need to fire Dick Morris. He doesn't belong on radio. 1210 has made another dumb decision on a afternoon host.
