Is The Sound Making References to Bonneville Taking Over?

"The trouble for would-be jockless broadcasters is that the Ipod and similar devices are going to get better... much better."

"They're going to put wireless communications in it... and they're going to use technology similar to that on Pandora.com to predict what NEW songs you'll like... and then put those new songs into your player, mixing them with your own music collection. If you want, they'll occasionally send you some old songs that your grew up with but might have forgotten."

"While they're at it, they'll put a computer program in it like radio stations use to select the music, so you'll hear your favorite songs more often, and others less often, and you'll hear organized sets, and if you like Christmas songs, it'll start mixing those into the rotation as Christmas approaches."

"Eventually it'll occur to them to make the device track the weather, figure out whether you're at work, at home, or in the car, doing chores or not doing much of anything, and it'll daypart the music to suit your likely mood."

"They'll also make it communicate automatically with your home or car stereo, so you won't have to bother with these "dock" type gizmos, just push a button on your player and crank up the big speakers."

Heaven help the wall-to-wall music radio station programmer who's trying to compete with that.

How much a month will all these "inovations" to the I-pod and similiar devices cost us users to subscribe to? Do you think the average joe has that kind of long green to spend? O'boy there goes another $50.00 each month!

The last thing I need is some corporate A-hole's in an ivory tower office suite somewhere thinking "He/She" is the worlds utmost authority on today's hit music from whichever music genre picking the music I need or want to hear.

What a nation of "asimulated Borg" we could become with all the subliminal messages that could be
sent out along with all the hypnotic trance inducing music. Tongue In cheek or the real deal?

No thanks I can pick the music that I want to hear according to whatever mood I'm in all by myself. Want to know what the weather is going to be like? Its simple just go out side and see!

If you want to pick all the music you listen to yourself, it's kind of odd you find yourself on a board where people are discussing radio stations that play music. The general rule with radio stations, is that people who haven't met you pick all the songs that you hear.

I don't know where you get the $50/month figure. Assuming you already own some music, normally there wouldn't be a charge to put it on your Ipod, and for $50.00 a month you could buy 600 or 606 new songs a year from Apple (or Rhapsody or whomever). I don't think most people would want that many new songs, on top of what they already have.
