Is The West Wing comming back?

I noticed that NBC put several to other shows in the Wedneday night lineup. But I do not remember reading that "The West Wing" was Canceled? Is NBC going to pull a "Benson" on us and cancel or burry the show so that we don't know who wins the Presidential election? Maybe it's just me, but it looks like NBC may have lost interest in the show, now? Does anyone know what the plan is? Or is this going to be another situation like "Boston Legal?"

Sunday nights at 8:00.

Re: Is The West Wing coming back?

This will likely be the final season for "West Wing", regardless of how well it does in the ratings this time around. For one thing, NBC will have NFL football on Sunday nights next Fall, and were "West Wing" to be renewed for 2006/2007, the show would either have to be moved to another night of the week, or have it's 2006/2007 season delayed until after the end of the NFL regular season.

In the show's plotline, it's the final year of the second term of President Bartlett (played by Martin Sheen). They're up to the start of the Fall campaign of the two candidates who want to be his successor.

My guess: "West Wing" will indeed come to an end this coming May. Expect the final episode to feature the inauguration of Bartlett's successor......but not before the President Bartlett character has one last major crisis he has to take care of during the final hours of his Administration. The episode will end with the swearing-in of Bartlett's successor.

"West Wing' is in a real tough time period too. At 8PM Sundays it is going up aganst to very popular shows: Cold Case on CBS and Extreme Makeover Home Edition on ABC. I have a hard time believing this show will do as well as it did on Wednesday nights.

I don't think the NFL would be a reason to cancel "West Wing." NBC could always move it to another time period or just run it after football season ends. They are going to have to put something in there.

Re: Is The West Wing coming back?

Independent KTVK in Phoenix usually shows The West Wing reruns on Saturday and Sunday evenings. The past weekend, the Sunday show was the last episode from last season which led in perfectly to NBC's broadcast of episode one from the new season.
