Is there a alternitive to dance besides sat. radio?

I tried both XM and Sirus, didnt realy care for there dance, I think XM was better though. But is there a alternitive from Internet radio // Sat. Radio? I wish there was a shortwave dance radiostation somewere, In my opinion I dont think either of those sat. services are worth paying for just yet.

Your options are pretty thin for dance music broadcasting if you're trying to look beyond satellite or internet (I'm assuming you've already considered conventional AM/FM as well). If you have digital cable at home, you can probably pick up MusicChoice's dance/electronica programming, which comes in 2 or 3 audio flavors over your tv. I've listened to it and it's ok... but if you weren't impressed by the satellite offerings, I doubt you'd enjoy the cable medium much more. It's sort of fun to read the artist info/trivia on the screen as the music plays. If you're lucky enough to be in Canada, you can watch dance music videos on BPM:TV wherever it's offered.

Personally, I think the offerings over the internet are pretty good, and that includes the FM-based web simulcasts. Of course, packing a computer tower and all the peripherals isn't always an option when you want to take your web streams with you somewhere. A friend recently loaned me his Sirius receiver to use for a few weeks to see how I'd like it, and I have to say that they've done a very good job with The Beat. It's nice to hear dance music in the car again with a live personality attached to it. I'm almsot sold on the idea of buying a receiver for myself. :)

I'd say the internet is your best choice for music. There are devices which allow you to record online streaming, and burn to a CD or upload to your personal player if you need.

Shortwave? My god man...I have a Grundig Shortwave box, and the sound quality of that band is horrible. Can't say I'd personally wanna sit outside with a beer and listen to Dance Radio from Algeria over shortwave :)

Sirius is checking out to be OK. The Beat isn't bad, but they do play alot older recurrents and more obscure stuff.

Also, check out your local college radio stations, they may have offerings for a few hours a week by indie programmers.

BTW...how do you define Dance music ?

Well I started getting interested in dance back in the late 90's when 104 KRBE in Houston did a mixshow called "thebeat" it was 4 hours comercial free dance club trance music. I dont think there was another mixshow ever like that again. I gues more hard-dance // Trance is what I was looking for. I gues more like what DI plays on some of there stations.
